Inara: So, explain to me again why Zoe wasn't in the dress? Mal: Tactics, woman. Needed her in the back. 'Sides, those soft cotton dresses feel kinda nice. It's the whole... air-flow.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

wow, this has been blast from the past week on facebook for me. 1 good friend from college I lost touch with. my roommate from a pre-college program I went to when I was 17 and lost touch with her soon after college. Another friend from college that I never kept up with afterwards. I expect highschool people to start popping up at anytime. crazy.

ANd there must have been some shift in my head in last few months, because I swear one of my first thoughts for the guys is: I wonder if he's single. Who is this person in my head?!??

Now tagless for your comfort.

But, you know, he thinks it's too little, too late.

Sounds like it's too late for HIM. He doesn't deserve you busting your ass to do this symposium. I hope you manage to find something great and he realizes what he's about to lose.

Sorry about the computer troubles, Nilly!

In the meantime, I have to make myself stop thinking about *this* part, and get back to the other million parts I'm behind on. It's just so hard to stop thinking about that nagging thing that wouldn't work, you know?

I totally understand this.

Yay Team Emmett! Good luck!

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I'm not really sure what your boss was really expecting of you, Allyson. Part of it sounds like he had certain expectations that he didn't know he had.

The good thing is , you know your boss isn't crazy. Some things he says makes sense -- other like expecting you to know everything involved in a symposium , don't. Learn what you can from this.

My BIL went through something similar with a boss -- someone that he had worked with for years. But the last time was just horrible. He decided that L had certain expectations just because they worked together for so long, and that it was ok to be less than reasonable. The good news, my BIL after years away from boss guy might be going back to work with him. The time apart gave BIL some experience that should help him deal with old boss -- and this is a position that has a little distance. So leaving can be good not just for you and your job, but may even make it possible to renegotiate your relationship

Ah, Choate. The big bust happened in my prep school years. Fond memories of everyone freaking out at that one. I was at Suffield Academy.

ETA: And wiki tells me, it is the 25th most expensive boarding school in the United States. That is whack. It's not that good.

My mother didn't start until 1986, so we missed the bust. I don't even think I heard about it until much later. My mother taught English and we lived in a boys' dorm the whole time I was at home (8th-12th grade).

We had just 2 or 3 students at that party. We didn't play them in that many sports, so I don't think there was a lot of crossover.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

It's so funny. I grew up in CT but know nothing about the prep schools. I didn't even know Choate existed until some time in college when some guy was all offended that I didn't know his school.

Of course, because Choate (or Coke Rosemary Hall as we called it for years due to said drug bust) is one of the Select Sixteen! I'm sure it was a great blow to his ego.

Because books.

I don't know anyone who went to boarding school (hell, I only knew, like, two people who even went to private school) but boarding school has always fascinated me. I loved The New Girls by Beth Gutcheon, which was set at a girls' school in the late '60s.
