If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

And lest we forget, the primary's not the only game in town:

"Once you abandon the artificial four-games-to-two framework that the media has tried to impose on the series, a very different picture emerges, with the Celtics leading by a mere 549 points to 539. Yes that’s right, the margin between the two teams is less than one percent—a tie, for all intents and purposes. This is probably the closest Conference Finals in NBA history, though I will thank you not to check on that."

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The sun is now at it's worst angle. Extremely difficult to see my computer screen now. By 3pm it should be past the skylight, though, and life will be good again.

Now? Eyestrain like whoa.

Lunch was good. I ate at Citizen Cupcake (a Citizen Cake offshoot) in the Virgin Megastore and flipped through Wm. Gibson's Spook Country and ate a fancy weenie (smoked bier. Not a patch on the bockwurst you get at Schroeder's, but still delicious.) with coarse ground mustard, cibatta bread and good sauerkraut.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Grocery shopping has taken up all my energy, so I think that my dinner may be spaghetti rather than the cold noodles with peanut sauce and seitan that I'd planned.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

You know, I am going to order pizza for dinner. I haven't had it in ages, and there will be leftovers for tomorrow, which I can shove in my piehole when I'm home for 5 minutes to change and then go to a concert.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

AND SHE'S MARRIED TO A *CANADIAN*

We all know the danger there!

Ok, that family? Riddled with foreigners. IJS.

How's he going to even get a security clearance? He won't be able to read his own briefings.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This is awesome!

Nanoengineers created blackest-ever black metal

Boston College Physicist Willie J. Padilla and a team from Boston College and Duke Univ. have nanoengineered a material that absorbs all the light that strikes it. How much more black could it be? None more black.

The team designed and engineered a metamaterial that uses tiny geometric surface features to successfully capture the electric and magnetic properties of a microwave to the point of total absorption.

Plus the article has bonus Spinal Tap reference!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Dishes targeted to health-conscious consumers at popular chains such as Chili's, Taco Bell and Applebee's contained as much as twice the calories and eight times the grams of fat than the restaurants claimed in their published nutrition information, a Scripps Television Station investigation revealed.

I'm so glad I've never worried about ordering the "healthy" choices at that kind of place! Phew.

Yeah, I think that's a large part of why I drink more beer than wine. Well, that and the price differential. $14 for a decent bottle that serves like, three people (or, one, because normally I am home alone), vs. $8 for a sixpack (which I can drink whenever I want)...hmmm....Even though I like the taste of wine more.

Yeah, I tend to drink more beer than wine at home for the same reasons -- not that I have either one of them around regularly. Although, I recently got a 12-pack of cans of diet ginger ale, which was delicious with the vanilla vodka.

Oh crap. My mom just called. My dad needs open heart surgery, probably tomorrow or thursday.

Oh no, Kat! Good luck to your dad, and calm thoughts to all of you.

Parking tickets, messes, blooded claws, and sleepless nights are NOT funny when they are happening to me.

Those are not funny when they happen to anyone, really.

despite no one here mentioning it, I want a raspberry lambic like woah! Of course, I wanted one last Friday also, so it may just be a relatively constant want. must find a local source.

They might have some of that at my corner bar, but I could be wrong. They had something rasberry on tap last time I was there, anyway.

I was out at my last day (yay!) of professional development today, and now I don't want to even look at my work email. Meh. The good news is that my group project was one of two (out of ten) chosen to present to a larger group today! Therefore, we win.

Now tagless for your comfort.

David, I really liked Spook Country. But I'm a huge William Gibson fan.

Heh.

Me too. Part of it I realized is that reading his stuff is like taking a luxury vacation. He's very good at giving you the upscale hotel of the future experience, you know? It's all so freakin' tasteful and stylish.
