On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Thanks, Vortex - I was just thinking I'd heard something about that a few months back, but I wasn't sure if it was the same story or not.

Iglesias was on the Daily Show -- that's where I heard it recently, anyway.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Happy birthday Ouise and Zenkitty!

We bucked the trend and had a good Monday today. But now I needs me a wee sup of vino I think.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Happy Birthday Ouise!

Happy Birthday Zenkitty!

Is it normal for a child out of diapers to throw inarticulate screaming fits 16 hours a day? I'm beginning to suspect my downstairs neighbors adopted their kid after the wild animals that raised her got fed up with all the noise and took off for quieter parts.

Not thinking to hard about the earlier conversations. It's all code and I'm leaving it that way.

I need computer deal to come back already, damnit. I *knew* I wasn't prepared to commit friday night and that would likely cost me, but, dangit, it can come back now.

Oh well, I'm resigned, either way.

I'm watching Hopkins from last week, and what's striking is how low-key the doctors are all the time. Of course it makes sense -- you can't freak out all day at work -- but it's not like on ER!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

the comments got scarier and scarier.

The comments weren't one the picture. It was about 3/4" of Mischa crack. Tame as hell.

They seem to have restarted the courtyard playdates. ita is grumpy. I get that kids have to make noise. It's one of the reasons I don't want to breed. I don't like it when kids are noisy in their houses, but I'm not mad at anyone. It's when they herd them into the shared space together for the exponentially excited shrieking...noise which wouldn't be tolerated from any other age group...loud enough that the TV volume has to be cranked?

Then I feel most like shaking my walker at them. But if I had my own lawn, I wouldn't so much have this problem.

My one experience in the ER showed me the lowkeyness. Unfortunately, I was on a major adrenaline rush and was cranky as all hell. So the slow speaking and repetition (probably good for accident victims so as to understand) just PISSED.ME.THE.FUCK.OFF.

I still want to apologize to the Indian nurse doing my intake. I was so fucking rude to him. His accent was strong and in my 150mph state, not even speaking slowly made it any clearer to me. Then he went all queens-english-slow on me and THAT pissed me off because I took that as condescension. I was a lousy adrenaline-drugged patient. OTOH, at least I was still calling him "sir"?
