Ii want a sewing machine. After I get a new job. I need to put my nose to the grindstone this weekend searching the job sites.
Man, it's eerily quiet in here. Sign to go home.
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

I my be shopping for new computer. This one is being entirely too unreliable.
Sigh.
I'm going to pay bills and then do nothing because I won't have any money left over after I budget for Comic Con. I think I have some cool netflix movies and tonight is all new Stargate Atlantis and Doctor Who.
from way back:
and trying to figure out my sewing machine
Amy, did I send the instruction manual? If not, I can take a look around and see if it's at my place. Lemme know! I am glad to hear you're getting some use out of it.
Amy, did I send the instruction manual?
You did! I just ... learn better if someone shows me. ::sheepish:: I read instructions and tend to doze off. ::even more sheepish::

Ah ha! I totally relate. We totally need to get Aims out there to learn ya.
Devi is curled up on my futon couch (I paid enough for a couchlike futon, I will call it that!)
She hadn't done that since....I don't recall her ever doing that. Then my parents visited and I was sleeping on it, and since she likes to sleep with me, she'd come up at night. And then sometimes when dad was sitting there (cats love my father.)
And now, apparently, whenever she damnwell feels like it. It's disconcerting to Mister Kitty, as that's always been his domain.
Hey, maybe they'll start curling up together.
Hahahah! Yeah, right.
In any case, I'd been encouraging her to sit up on the back of it, cause she'd always liked that spot on the old one, but it was really too narrow for her. This one isn't. But she wasn't buying until now.
Amy- I can probably talk you through it online if you need help-- I have taught so many people to thread a sewing machine I can probably do it in words alone, or I could give you my cell#.
I actaully hope to finish cleaning my house, fo to the market, and sew curtains from the awesome 70's bedsheets I got a long time ago at the good will. Sometimes I think I want more money to decorate, but I actually kind of like weird things made out of wintage sheets and such, so maybe not. A woman at work got married to this rich country-club kind of guy, and she has had to change her style so much-- she makes fun of her old style, but I think she secretly misses it. She once made a coffee table with an old window with vintage photograhs affixed under the glass, and that seems so cool to me!
Allyson, I, too, am shaking with fury at the situation with your brother. I know it's not easy to take money, especially when you're usually the one gathering it for others, but please let us do this for you.
Hang in there. We've got your back.
(Maybe it would be easier if we just gathered the money and sent it to her? I know if I were in her shoes, that would be easier for me than asking.)
Oh, holy crapping crap. I just got online for the first time today and saw what happened with Allyson's brother. I'm with everyone who said they'd go medieval on the geezer with nary a second thought. Honestly, I think if it was up to most any parent, that guy would be drinking his meals through a wired jaw for the next several months.
I'm with everyone else in offering cash for whatever necessary, shoulder, Bertha the Baseball Bat, anything.
ION, weekend plans include flying to NYC for the week for Abby the Diva to attend Camp Broadway. (God help us.) Jess, I've got a metric buttload of business meetings all week while the Diva takes over the Great White Way, but if I find we've got time I'd love to see you.
And it's really distressing when one's 75 year-old mother starts acting twelve.
