Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That sounds like a GAAP thing, although it feels kind of opposite from how I understand GAAP to usually work. But there are often things that are different between GAAP and the information you need to actually run the place -- we have cash books and GAAP books.

GAAP = Generally Agreed Accounting Principles.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

"Outstanding funds" "Accounts in poor standing" "Funds to be Received"

Lunch = Catfish Po Boy = yum

People are returning calls adn emails from Friday and I am still trying to catch up on my back-log of nagging tasks I never got done.

(also, I am pretty sure it is backwards and she is WRONG, but I am not an accountant or the accountant or anything like that. But once I invoice the person, it just sort of goes into accounts receivable in Quickbooks. But the accountant doesn't use Quick Books, so, I guess I just need to separate it out when I give her a report. Yes, I have to type out a report for her from the stuff I have entered in quick books so she can type it into her excel spreadsheets. )

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Okay, we have an official date for when the movers are coming.

Which is ten days from now. ACK.

From a bit upthread:

Champlaigne, Ill. (Champagne? it was a long time ago.)

It's actually Champaign. (Where the University of Illinois is located. And Roger Ebert's hometown. Unless he's from the sister city of Urbana--I can never remember which!)

After reading this weekend's Natter, now I want a root beer float! I still have the root beer I got at the Grumpy Troll in Mt. Horeb during the F2F and was planning on stopping at the grocery store on the way home--I think I'll be adding some vanilla ice cream to my shopping list.

Hahaha! Sorry.

My dad just got back from his ninth annual fishing trip to Canada, and announced a very successful outing this time. Only one cold/rainy day (last year was never above 55 degrees and rained the whole time), he caught over 100 fish in three days and took home his allotment, and he finally got his "wall-hanger," a 38-inch Northern Pike.

not your mom's socks.

yay! despite continuing annoyance from the smoke-and-mirrors woman, I are a good manager today. Just got word, after Much toe-to-toe with the rest of the financial people who work with SAM woman, that my minion is okayed for a non-standard (ie off-the calendar cycle) raise. Because she's taking on additional responsibility as I prepare to blow this insane, dada-esque taco stand.

Which will make it easier for her to ask for more money (and she should) when I do leave for reals.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Where in Canada does your dad go fishing? My dad's been to Canada to fish about 30 times. A few times he's driven to Red Lake, Ontario and then flown to an isolated lake via float plane. I did the fly-in fishing thing with him once - it was weird (and fun) not seeing a single human being besides our group for a week.

I'll have to ask him--I know it's in Ontario, and it's an hour or so north of the border. He goes with a chartered bus group from Chicagoland. The way he's described it to me is that the bus company brings groups back and forth to this camp in Canada every week throughout the summer, and he's always booked his trip for the week of the Fourth.

He's always been into fishing (not fly, just reel), and took me down to the Kankakee River a few times when I was a kid. The fishing trip that sticks out in my head, however, was the one my mom, sister, and I took when we were in Bar Harbor, Maine, and we took a group fishing trip out into the ocean. I caught the most out of the three of us--two cod, two mackeral, some ugly black spiny thing that we tossed back, and a little shark about 18 inches long that was also tossed back (it was startling seeing the teeth when I pulled it out of the water!).
