It's not worth it to open a bottle of wine just to have a glass or two,
See, that's where beer is so handy. Individual serving sizes!
Heh. Fair point. And I do occasionally have a beer; it's just that it generally doesn't occur to me, since The Boy doesn't drink with me.
How do you stand the stuff?
NUMMY!
he gave up weed
All I will say on this subject just now is that, while I really need to quit smoking cigarettes for so many, many reasons, I absolutely refuse to lead a vice-free life.
The wine shop that opened across the street from D's daycare (oh Brooklyn I love you so much) has single-serving box wine. I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but the owner assures me that it's "better than you'd expect...definitely drinkable." Next time I go for a picnic in the park I'ma pick up a few.

It seems like English, and yet?
Although, admittedly, now that I can get wine at TJ's (which wasn't possible in MD) and I'm spending a lot less per bottle, I feel a lot less guilty about it.

Math. I drink at least 80 oz. of fluid a day, else I shrivel up. Everything else drinkable has calories (or is just nast, as in the case of tea). Said calories would be more tastily used somewhere else. Also - water is fairly neutral to me - like megan said, the SF water is tasty, but it's still neutral.

Quit smoking, start kicking people in the shins at bus stations?

Tea is not nast! It's not like it's coffee or something!

Well, he's addicted to ice cream, if that counts. (We have -- no shit -- 4 different half-gallons of ice cream in the freezer right now.)

I've heard that, too, but I'm leery.

That's not vice; it's just good common sense.
I really like the HonestTea [edit: which is entirely unrelated to Izze, other than being something to drink which is not a soft drink] (even though Coke bought a 40% share of them). They're actually based out of suburban DC. They have some yum flavors, they're organic, and they've got JUST enough sweetness for my taste (and no HFCS, just sugar). Usually like, 10-30 cal per bottle, or somesuch, at least in the flavors I like.
I love HonestTea! Much lower in calories than anything else, but still tastes good. And their caffeine content is right there, too!
I found a diet soda w/o caffeine that I liked just this weekend: A&W diet root beer. I can't remember the last time I had soda in the house, but will have this around.
Also, speaking of caffeine-free and tea: Bengal Spice iced tea. That's the only iced tea we'll make at home.
When I first moved in the cold water from my fridge dispenser had a bad, metallic taste. I'm not sure if I've gotten used to it or if months of use have cleaned out the pipes, but I can't taste it at all now.
Garden hose water is still the best tasting to me.
