I just watched the DC fireworks on TV, even though I could have seen them from my roof. I was watching the music stuff on TV, and got caught up in watching Jerry Lee Louis and didn't have time to get to the roof before the fireworks started. I could feel the vibrations of the fireworks, though.
Also been reading patriotic/political poems. I keep going back to "Bryan, Bryan, Bryan, Bryan" and "I Hear America Singing." And, of course, "New Colossus," hence my new tagline.
Guiding Light talk! I really need to catch up in Natter more often. The lack of Bauer's really is sad. Did they even bother to build a Bauer house at the new location?
We have had a DAY today. Noah has been a pill ALL DAY. I had a moment where I realized he holds us hostage all the time. We put him down for a nap in our room, with the A/C on which meant we could not only leave, but we also could not go nap. Sigh. Our baby = little dictator.
We are watching Long Way Round and, sarameg, they are now in Ulaanbataar!
We had the uber american dinner: handmade tortillas, roasted corn and black beans, carne asada.
I'm pitting cherries and then I'm making a patriotic flag cake for brunch on sunday.
I made these tonight: [link]
Man oh man are they good. I used sage instead of rosemary since that's what I had growing.
Why have I never come across that site before, brenda? She is funny while cooking yummy stuff. And the pictures? That is awesome.
I know! I can't remember how I stumbled on it but it rocks.
brenda, I am making her cake here: [link]
Both Steph and Jesse have linked to her before.
We watched the Rose Bowl fireworks. Wow. Got to say, they were impressive. We're thinking about coming to the Bowl for the day next year and actually getting stadium seats to see the fireworks up close and the drum and bugle corps (who I love) perform. We were so late this year that we decided to pay to park but not to get into the stadium itself. It would only be worth $13 a head if you were going to be here for the day and get to enjoy the performances and booths and such.
We had a panoramic view on the roof. And a new British neighbor, which was good, because I felt as though I could now do a decent reenactment of the Revolutionary War.
Also, I ama little stoned, and therefore, everything is HILARIOUS.
Including this story from the dude who moved into my old apartment:
When he was little, he loved The Lion King SO MUCH, and asked his mom for African music for xmas, just like on The Lion King!
His mom got him a Motown collection.
My sides still hurt from laughing.

At summer camp one year, early one morning on the Fourth of July, a few of the guys tied up one of the British counselors, taped tea bags all over him, and threw him in the lake. (No actual drowning danger, just mocking danger. Which we did. A lot.)
