We had 4th plans, but DH is recovering from food poisoning, so we're staying home.
Unfortunately, Annabel picked up the idea somewhere that she has an unalienable right to go to the fireworks tonight, and she's huffy at both of us. (We didn't even TELL her about the fireworks, so it must've been at preschool.)
Presidents' Day, which is for shopping.
Presidents Day is for cherry pie!
I don't have presidents Day off. It is a day for envy!
Also, the Bauer BBQ on Guiding Light sucked. It was not even at the Bauers! And I suck for not cleaning more, as tomorrow is jam packed with Public market and Birthday party for my godson.
One of the votes most satisfying to cast was against Helms. Not that it did any good.
I got up, shot the cat, read the paper, started reading a book, went back to bed, slept too long, got up again, took the trash out, vacuumed, and now am about to mop.
Someone is either cooking seafood or something DIED nearby. There's the grossest smell wafting by outside and in the stairwell. Smells like death (which seafood often smells like to me.) Blearg.
I need to go to Bloodbath, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow. Want to see if I can score some more of my sheets for cheap, except for my parents' bed. They really liked them. May be too late, but then I'll just get them the full price ones for xmas.
I don't have Presidents' Day off, but I don't know anyone else who does, either. It isn't a day for envy, but for coming home and then remembering "oh, right, no new Netflix because there's no mail today."
Jesse Helms has died. I still think of him as the evillest man in politics.
Well, that's only because he was.
I turned on the tv in the middle of a post-Helms retrospective, and they didn't once utter the phrase "racist, homophobic son of a bitch," which strikes me as an incomplete report. I kept watching for a while, because at first I thought it was an announcement that he was reentering politics, and I was kind of frozen in horror. Then they put up life dates. Gosh, he took a long time to ascend.
One of the votes most satisfying to cast was against Helms. Not that it did any good.
Yeah, but the "I'm from North Carolina and I don't support Jesse Helms" bumper stickers were a classic.
Sentence from a NY Times article:
The challenges exist even for students whose academic progress has come relatively easier.
That should be "more easily," shouldn't it? Because it's an adverb, modifying "has come"?
Wall-E = LOVE!
YAY! I adored it. How can you not love the romanticism of that little robot. K says that EVE was her fave.
Also, the Bauer BBQ on Guiding Light sucked. It was not even at the Bauers!
Are there even Bauers left??
I'm getting ready to go to my friend's for food and fireworks, but I just realized I'll be super early if I go now. So I'm dawdling a little...
