I'm sorry, Sue. You did good by him for all his years, but that doesn't make it any easier at the end.

Thanks guys. I am surprisingly at peace. Poor megan came with me for support, and I think she cried more than I did.
I'm sure it will hit more tomorrow when I come home from work and only one furry face greets me at the door.
My condolences, Sue. I know it isn't easy.

Really, I guess I should rehearse a speech along the lines of, "I didn't grow up doing this, because my family just didn't have that kind of money, and in my adult life up to now I haven't had the resources to invest outside of employer plans. So I need the nuts-and-bolts--how to sell, how long various transactions take to clear, how to access account information online, etc."
All you need is the last sentence of this speech.
and from discussions on another board

Susan--remember, not knowing a specific something is not a referendum on your intelligence. Like all Buffistas, I know a lot of stuff and so do you. But I also know when to ask questions about what I don't know, even if that's stuff I feel I "should" know already. Thoughts which keep you from asking questions to get information you need are not realistic or helpful. People like sharing knowledge. Whenever you need to know something, ask away and, since you ARE smart, once they tell yo, you will then know it for yourself.
