And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

This is what I'm saying about Kate Schindle! She actually has a career other than "former Miss America"!

I went to college with her! t /name-drop

We just ate the first tomato out of our garden

Oooooooooooooooh.

not your mom's socks.

Holy mother of god: [link]

yes, USA, be proud that your national costume is a sequined bikini and some kind of Lake Placid-inspired torture wheel. Very proud.

Miss New Zealand should be doing a hakka. Roll the eyes back, bug 'em out, stick your tongue out... that would win it for her.

This is an awesome link meara. OTOH, I kind of like Britain's national costume - though I have no idea if that constitutes flag-abuse or not. She looks like Miss Thailand would have her as an appetizer though.

Miss Korea should be a contender. [link]

happy birthday sj! fellow sun-house person!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I mean, it's a commercial. But it makes me grin.

Yeah, but it's a fairly unique commercial. Instead of saying, "You're not cool/thin/rich/pretty/young/safe/fed/well-dressed/equipped enough, so buy this crap," it's saying, "The world is awesome! Check it out! (ideally on our channel)." Such a different message, and one I can really get behind.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Happy Birthday, sj!

information libertarian

I'd seen the World=Awesome commercial a while ago, but I watched it again this weekend when people were linking and I have been earwormed with Boom De Yada for DAYS. And the baby sings it too now.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

And the baby sings it too now.

We need a followup to his first awesome singing vid. The kid has YouTube star potential, I'm telling you.

Punishingly Intricate

The fug girls totally need to get on the miss universe train.

They would love it!!! It's like Eurovision times a million. I can't pick a favorite. But I have to agree with Matt that Miss T & T's outfit is right up there..out there. It's special.

I got like no sleep last night. am not sure how I'm going to make it through today. Gentleman friend's plane from Chicago was super late (and reading back here I see there were big storms so maybe United isn't entirely to blame). He ended up taking a cab and didn't get to my house until 4. Still glad he got here though! Not glad I have to work today.

I do have iced coffee with coffee ice cubes I was smart enough to make last night! yum!

Happy birthday, sj!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Birthday Happies sj!!!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Happy birthday, sj!

And those links are a hoot - what's really amazing is that so many of the girls actually manage to look happy while wearing a pyramid, slutty baseball outfit, etc. They've all obviously earned their national competitions for acting, if nothing else.
