My cats greet me enthusiastically when I return - but that's mostly because they think they're going to be fed.
And mostly they are right. (I generally feed them when I get home from work.)

My cat also greets me crazy enthusiastically. I live on the 2nd floor and she rubs against my legs on every stair! Also, sometimes she gets so into it, she actually does a somersault and falls of the stair

Being laid off sucks! Except for the severance package (if you get one, and you better). Also, grounds for other people buying you drinks, which is always a nice unexpected side-effect.
