I am making ice cream today for the first time since summer camp as a kidlet. Just a cheap rock salt and ice maker, but I hope it turns out well.

Mmm. I haven't made ice cream yet this summer. Between that and the caramel sauce, Brane is short-circuiting on the nom.
(Although we did have grill bread tonight.)
I had an awesome cheeseburger for dinner, on a pretzel roll. Yum.
Now I would like ice cream. I already had one serving of the most-likely substitution today (frozen blueberries, granola, milk), so I guess I'll pass on that. Ah well...
if Tom Scola is around, IM?
I need to make ice cream. maybe over the long weekend.
I had a salad of black beans, corn, tomatoes, and cucumber (the corn, tomatoes and cucumber were fresh from the farmer's market this morning), along with some nice grilled pork done on a grill pan.
Called out for Thai. Doing unspeakable things to the tum (red curry with roasted duck), but it's still the current craving. It's been a long one for an entire cuisine.
Work...done. Head...pounding. But at least I could now take the sleepy meds. I'm on call overnight, but I don't expect anything to happen then.
mac and I had a kinda late lunch of Ethiopian, and then ice cream around 5, so no dinner for us.
Work...done.
Hooray!
Head...pounding.
Less so.
Good LORD. I was really hoping by moving to Seattle I could have a Pride that didn't involve being exhausted and heat strokey afterward, but NOOOOO, it's 90 degrees here and sunny. WTF, Seattle??!?!?!
So it's 6:30 and I'm in my house with the shades drawn and the fan on high, eating my hummus and pita and trying to cool down. I already took a cold shower. I am prided out. I could go to the lesbian bar or do something like that, but I just don't think I am up for it. There would be too much heat, and I don't mean sexy ladies.
I don't really like granite countertops. For counters, I want something that'll wipe up easily. When my parents redid their kitchen around 1992 or so, they got Formica counters, but in a pattern and installed in a way that made it look like Corian at first glance. Aside from one or two small scratches, it still looks pretty much perfect.
I also hate tile floors in kitchens. The kitchen in my apartment has tile, and I've broken so many dishes on it.
My apartment also has white carpeting and white walls, both of which I hate. I've got plenty of color in my furniture and a few area rugs, but I really wish I could paint the walls.
