I think by clear, they mean the same shade as your skin. I just avoid white shoes so I don't have to deal this issue.

Just like I've never found underwear to adequately match the tone of my skin I've never found convincing ita skintone hose. Which is why, in the rare cases when it comes up, I just go straight to white.

In the end, despite how much I'm willing to talk it to death, I really don't give a fuck. THe rules just fascinate the hell out of me.
