They've got to be. I think they're focusing on the stylish eccentrics and rocker types. I've seen three different profiles where the person says that Hanoi Rocks and Nikki Sixx are fashion influences, at least two Sweet Lolita/EGL profiles, and some very elegant Goths. (Like these two! [link]
There's a fair amount of vintage on the Sartorialist [link] but again, he makes a point of finding interesting people. So sometimes it's expensive and sometimes it's vintage, but it's almost never the Gap.
The guys seem to get it --- and the further I am into the site the less ----57 neat pieces I own, but do nothing for each other ( or me ) all piled up on each other---- look

When it was 1994 and one of my looks was a black ruffly little girl style dress, a straw hat with daisies on it, my hair in braids with ribbon bows, and black mary janes, was I ahead of my time or just plain weird? I miss the ability to wear out there clothes to work. I can't commit to it daily, like Jilli, but oce and awile would be nice!
This is what I wore in the 80's --- with much bigger hair of course. Miss it -- it shows off my legs .
