WTF!?!?!?!

In good news: I got to hang out with Maria! I'm happy to report that she's awesome and gorgeous and can toss them back with the best of us!

to counteract the jackhole teacher.

mac is doing the summer reading program with the library. I used to LOVE the summer reading program. He does not yet read to himself and usually balks at reading out loud to me for more than 5-6 minutes. Last night he read 15 minutes straight in order to mark off a spot where they are tracking time of reading, not just books complete. He will finish book #1 tonight and he gets to track them in his little booklet as well as online. It may lose its draw when he realizes there are not prizes. I may initiate prizes of my own in an attempt to make him more of a reader.

My friend who is a librarian used to give prizes to her own kid. She made Reading Bucks and for every book he read, he would get 1 Reading Buck. He could spend the money in these ways: 5 Reading Bucks = 30 minutes of TV. 7 Reading Buks = time with play station. 3 Reading Bucks = purchase a book of his choice.

It worked really really well.

There's no prizes? That's a shame. You should totally give prizes. I loved the summer reading program. We got frosties from Wendy's. That's the prize I liked most, I think, since I don't even remember what the other prizes were!

I know I'm being superficial over it, but... I never knew clothing can make me be so happy, dammit.

That's awesome, Shir!! Yay!

Happy Birthday, Teppy!!

Happy Birthday Steph!

I am more tired than I should be today. I am blaming the grey, muggy weather.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am tired, but I am blaming the mugging of the grey matter.

Oh reading bucks sound fun. No way I could do her system though. He gets 30 min - 1 hour of tv everyday. Maybe 5 = new book, 7 = Ben 10 episode (those aren't on tv), 10 = pokemon cards. And designing the bucks sounds like a good time-suck for the day.

Punishingly Intricate

lisah! I'd like some restaurant reccs! Nothing fawncy or really $$, just good food. My parents love taking me out to eat when they visit & I know they won't let me pay, so I don't want to sock it to them. And I know, like, 3 places (Paper Moon, Niwana and Mari Luna up the street.)

Well, there's always Golden West! Also in Hampden, Rocket to Venus which is also a bar and can get pretty busy the later you get but early in the evening should be fine and can have some very good food. I haven't been to the Dogwood restaurant and it may be a little on the pricier side but friends love it and I've loved the sandwiches I've gotten at their take out cafe.

Outside of my 'hood, I love, love, love Chameleon Cafe on Harford Road. It always has great local food. [link]

hmm...I'll try to think of some other places.
