Cordelia: I get it now. You're all spies. Probably all Russian. And you've brainwashed me, and want me to believe we're friends so I'll spill the beans about some nano-technology thingy that you want. Gunn: So I look Russian to you? Cordelia: Black Russian. Angel: That's a drink.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

First course...actually, before the first course, they brought out crostini. Bread, potatoes, garlic, prosciutto, and arugula.

First course: Cauliflower soup with truffle oil.

Second course: Gnocchi with wild boar sausage and fava beans.

Third course: Flourless chocolate cake with hazelnut gelato.

I also got to taste what my husband ordered, which was a frisee, pear, and goat cheese salad with caramelized pecans, and chianti-braised short ribs with risotto.

ooh, yum, Dana!

And I, like, Jesse, would love to have that dinner! And would love to have it with you and Jesse, cause that would be awesome fun!

Seriously!!! Anytime!

In not happy news, I just talked to my dad and they just had to put their dog Lady, a sheltie, down. She'd had a bad cough and collapsed the other day and they found she had a tumor on her heart. There wasn't really any viable treatment option. So sad. She was really my dad's sweetheart.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I got a text from my sister telling me to call my mother because she was feeling down. I didn't fully process that it's her fucking birthday

Lord, ita, I normally remember that our moms have the same birthday. I've been so distracted with vacation stuff and potential alien baby stuff that I forgot. (I know it's not my responsibility to remember your mom's BD, nor to remind you, but like I said, since it's the same day as my own mom's BD, I know I've remembered it in the past.)

Today is lasting forever and hammering me to death. I don't know what that error message means! I just did what you told me and it happened and now I'm asking you! You wrote the damned code, I know fuckall as to what it is doing!!!!

Getting up at 6 and here by 8 and two walks to/from the mechanic's just adds to it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That sounds delicious, Dana.

Maybe I'll get a muffaletta for dinner? Or lunch tomorrow, more likely.

I just heard that a coworker had a dream about being at my wedding. Hilarious.

Dude! You should call me! I'd have driven you this morning.

Aw! It's not a bad walk though, maybe 15 minutes. If I ever have to do it in crappy weather, now....

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

More good news! Today has been scientifically shown to be the happiest day of the year! [link]

Or maybe it's not so good news, as in, "This is as good as it gets - it's all downhill from here...."

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I am! And yes! We leave the 5th.

Holy Shit, Nora! I'm going to be on Peaks Island (a 10 minute ferry ride from Portland) from the 2nd to the 5th. I'm doing a dinner thing on the 2nd (for among other things, my birthday) and my annual family thing is on the 4th. First off, you're more then welcome to come over for my family thing (we've invited sailors on shore leave to this thing on the ferry over, so friends are a no brainer), but if that seems a bit too intense, dinner or lunch on the 3rd could be a thing.

If you're in Portland, that is. Let me know, and I'm gonna send this by email too.
