Lindsey: Why--why did you... Lorne: One last job. You're not part of the solution, Lindsey. You never will be. Lindsey: You kill me? A flunky?! I'm not just...Angel...kills me. You...Angel... Lorne: Good night, folks.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Our dance group had a performance at the Maryland Fairie Festival today. It was ridiculously hot and I showered when I got home. Soon I will go to the mall for comic books and cards.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Tell me more!

I... wish I could. I know "Next year in Jerusalem" is being said at the end of the Seder, and in the end of Tfilat Ne'ila (the last prayer of Yom Kipur).

For the little I know (for an grew up mostly secular and Nilly would have made a better explanation), Shavuot is one of the three holidays on which the Israelites would make a pilgrimage to the Temple. Wiki explains is all

And this still happens today, in a way. Jews in Jerusalem still walks to the Western Wall every year, though I think it happens before sunrise just in Shavuot (I might be really wrong about this). But I do know that watching the sunrise from there is considered to be part of Tikkun Leil Shavuot, and a way to make the world a better place, or something like that.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

My friend I just had brunch with is in rabbinical school, and was telling us they are doing a travelling Tikkun tonight, going to different people's houses and ending up in a park for sunrise. It sounded cool.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Yay Tom Scola!

I am so annoyed by the grocery checker who, when I hand them the reusable bag sold by their own store, act all confused and say "Do you want me to use these for your groceries?"

Um. Why else would I be giving them to you?

Also, I forgot crackers which is annoying. I was trying to make the 2:45 bus, because otherwise I am stuck there until 3:40, and there is only so much to do in a grocery store.

I want a return to a neighborhood store, but I wonder if it would have just the same gas usage because the food distributers would have to deliver to many more stores.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Um. Why else would I be giving them to you?

I have run into this so many times.

Argh. One of my neat collapsible measuring cups just tore. I got these after one of my previous set of plastic ones melted. I think I'm going to buy a metal set now. Seems least likely to self-destruct.

Very cool Discovery Channel series starts tonight - When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions. [link]

Got to see a preview ep a few weeks ago, and it's nerdtasticly great. Cleaned up original NASA footage and current interviews with astronauts and others. Splashy and flashy good stuff.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Go Scola! I have signed a Lynda Barry and a framed original.

at Pinocchio's along with Ingrid Bergman.

Probably Finnochio's here in the City.

Matilda's been extra good today. EM took care of her during our game this morning, and she was calm and well behaved and took a nap. And we've been touring around the nabe this afternoon and she sat neatly on her chair and had a tini brownie and then she walked in on the local nail shop and sat in one of the chairs and stared with fascination at the goings on. And we met two nice dogs and now she's playing with crystalized ginger.

JZ won't be home from working the Deco Fair until after Matilda's in bed so every hour of good mood is a plus.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

well, shit. Paul Hamm broke a bone in his hand at the Visa Championships. he's not going to be able to participate in the Olympic trials and his coach will have to petition to get him on the Olympic team.

Our wings are not tired.

Ouch. It sounds like he will likely be able to participate in the Olympic games, but not being able to use the hand for the next month or so can't be helpful. And ouch.

When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions.

I hope it is available via other means. I don't often miss the cable, but that does look very good.

Laura, they talked about getting it out on DVD quickly, too.
