This isn't a come-on. I'm in a very serious relationship with a landscape architect.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I dragged myself to CPR training. I'd thought the new anti-inflammatories were working better, but NSM. It's funny how the migraines make me look like not a morning person.

Interesting training though, especially in contrast to last time. Turns out this trainer wouldn't do the breathing bit on a stranger without a barrier--if she wouldn't, the pitching of hands-only seems a good idea.

This week's Taboo is about people who self mutilate for their religion. Which turns out to be about submitting to pain. I think that gets deleted as soon as this post is posted.

And then there will be popcorn.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Jess, those sunny pictures of Dylan have made me cheer up a bit (I am both cranky and sad and stuck in an airport for hours)

Thank you! And boo to airports and their cranky-making ways.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

So far made curried lentil/chicken/couscous for the next two days' dinner: finishing in the slow cooker. Did a load of laundry. Am working on finishing up a powerpoint.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just spent three hours reading and sleeping, not sure how much time doing either. But I guess I'm not better -- I'm really not a napper.

Happy beach boy!

The curse of new furniture continues: I bought a slipcover for my old loveseat. It's boring (taupe) but the upholstery on the old one was looking dingy, so this is an improvement. And still it won't show cathair at the drop of a cat. And I can wash it when it gets too furry.

I'm going to hate the numbers on this month's credit card (it's not as tough the money comes from a different place if I wrote a check straight up instead of putting it on the card, but writing one check for a big amount rather than many for smaller seems to be psychologically more painful. Weird.)

This week's Taboo is about people who self mutilate for their religion.

There are a few tell-tale signs that you have picked the wrong religion, like the leader gets to marry all the women in the church, that kind of thing. Gotta say self-mutilation would kinda be on that list for me. I know, I know, hair shirt has the ring of saintly authenticity and all but....

Actually now that I think about it, off the top of my head I can come up with a few other examples of ritual self-mutilation being incorporated into religion, so it's not all that unusual.
