Aw, crap. I was going to say I'd replied, but I see now I only managed to reply to you, and not the list, because I'm smart. So you'll be getting two emails. Sorry.
Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
And I just replied to your replies! What an exciting morning!
Is all good. Yay! I am gonna take it to the F2F thread.
Oh cool. I never check that thread, but I will now. An exciting day indeed!
Vortex, I can only add that putting a scare into the late ones is about all you can do. Maybe asking them to justify being allowed to present when they couldn't meet the deadline....
I still haven't decided. I feel less vengancy about it, so at least whatever I do, I'll be doing it with a clear head.
Meeting in 10 min. DO NOT WANT!
Vortex, that is just wrong. I am so sorry. And no grades!? So nothing really to hold over their heads? Que Horror! Maybe a very passive aggressive stance of delaying the presentations as much as possible. Let the folks who got in on time go first, and be speedy, and then for late folks, wait a LONG time between presentations, needle the hell out of them with questions, and help them understand the meaning of respecting others times.
Nothing really. They don't care. The only thing that they care about is money.
My interview was yesterday. I think it went well, although I am still hating answering "Why did you leave your last position?"
I have boiled it down to a "Well, I had many illness-related absences last year and in April my doctor discovered the cause and I had to have major surgery. I was out the last month of school and unable to fuction till mid-June. The issue was completely resolved by the surgery." And then I just smile confidently.
Ugh.
It's a nice school -- I really hope I get it. The only thing that is a little dissapointing is that the curriculum seems a little rigid and regimented. I won't be able to teach what I wish and will be teaching, for the most part, out of a textbook. Ick. The flip side to this, however, is that it makes planning much easier, and I suppose it's HOW I teach the material. And I can always add supplemental stuff and extra credit assignments. NO Shakespeare, tho! I'd be teaching sophomore classes and a newsletter class.
Kristin, I'd have 24 computers in my classroom!
The interviewers were nice, but hard to read, so I think I did a good job, but I don't know. I should know one way or the other by Friday.
Vortex, if they care about money, can you institute a late fee for every assignment turned in after the deadline?
And Erin - best of luck!
NO Shakespeare, tho! I'd be teaching sophomore classes and a newsletter class.
WTFF? No Shakespeare? What the hell kind of school is this! I mean, I hope you get it and you like it, but I think you should do some guerilla Shakespeare.
