Turns out we all smuggled out things of Daddy's after having been told we couldn't have anything. Sharon's got his old leather flight jacket from WWII--it would need serious restoration to be wearable, but damn, the real deal--and his medals. They wondered where his Air Corps pins had gotten to and I had to say, "Uh, I grabbed those."
Edit: I should have grabbed that box with his collection of swizzle sticks for WWII-era New York. That would be very cool.
Heh. In the email workshop I posted about earlier, one of the things I ask about any given message one might send is:

This post, about a relative of mine and funereal aftermath was true...but definitely not kind or necessary. Thus, the delete.

He's in surgery now, apparently. Should get out soon. I offered to sit with my mom while she waited, but she told me to save my vacation for when she needed a break :)

Thanks guys. And to add insult to injury, I thought that yesterday was Sunday (traveling and going to weekend conference screwed me up) and parked on the wrong side of the street, and got a street cleaning ticket. ARGH!!!!!
