Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Dental ~ma, Ginger.
Oh noes, Sail! That really sucks. All of my hairpats are definitely yours. I know it's easy for me to say since it didn't happen to me, but I'm so very glad that it wasn't much worse.

Oh my Sail! How awful. Calm and back-to-balance-quick ~ma to both of you.
Eeee. t sweeping motions to blow the negative energy away from Sail's vicinity.
Speaking of negative energy...it is now me that needs a hivemind edit on an angry letter. Any recommendations deeply appreciated.
Landlord and his wife,
It pains me to, once again, have to come to you in writing but I must make very clear my concern about how repairs are made to my apartment.
The corner of the ceiling in my kitchen came down on the 20th of April, due to a roof leak. Since this was a Sunday evening, out of respect for your time I dealt with the problem myself and waited until Monday to notify you of this event.
Over the subsequent 38 days, I’ve been as patient as possible with T’s sporadic schedule and doing things in his own time. I am however, disappointed that T seems to believe the repair is complete even though the spot in the corner has been painted over in an obvious patch…over an existing patch…leaving the ceiling tri-colored. It was my expectation that the entire small ceiling would be painted so as to even out the color.
In discussing the repair, I told T that I didn’t care what color the ceiling ended up being and we both agreed that it should ‘look good.’ I see now that I should have been more specific. It is my assumption that the ceiling and effected wall should be one color.
In addition, T entered my home last night with no notification. This is completely unacceptable. It appears that he called my phone at 8:38pm, discovered that I was not home…did not leave a message…and entered while I was out.
It is true, that on two previous occasions when T worked on the ceiling, I was not here. That was perfectly fine because he had informed me of his presence in advance.
Last night, I left sensitive documents that I was working on assessable. I would NEVER have done this if I had thought an uninvited person might be present. I am ethically bound to protect these documents and do everything possible to do so.
I have done everything I can to accommodate T’s need for a ‘casual’ approach to things but it seems that each time I relax, my rights, my safety or preferences are ignored. If there is ANYTHING I can do to create communication that does not put myself at risk, I beg you to make clear to me what that might be. In the meanwhile, do not enter my apartment without notification, and please complete the ceiling repair in a satisfactory manor.
Sigh...
Everyone remember me doing a comic a while back? The manuscript is in and working on the artist.
The thing is the contract/program that the manuscript was completed under has hit the comic blogs and the hate for it is on. I knew that it was a bad contract going in, but people are just slamming it over and over online. People talking about how horrible it is and how you should never sign it.
I could never get an artist and this program is going get me one. That is all that matters, I need to have something finished to show editors, not a script.
But all of vitirol is just getting me down. Way down.
EtA: As someone just said, there is whole buttload of negative energy being directed at the program, and while none of it being explicitly directed to the people who signed it, I still feel like I am being caught in the backscatter...
Aw, CaBil, what a pain to have something ostensibly good end up being fodder for someone(group)'s political football. That's an uncomfortable place to be...but you got to do what YOU got to do. If this is a path that works for you, then, screwm, eh?
bonny, I don't know about the municipality you're in, but I had something similar happen to me in Michigan. It turns out that the fact they didn't finish the repairs meant my apartment didn't meet building code and, therefore, wasn't a livable habitat. A lawyer recommended I withhold rent until the repairs were complete. As it was, I was leaving before my lease was up and I used the fact to get out of paying a penalty.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SEAN!
I'm skipping to wish birthday happies...will backread as soon as I have time.
Interesting Sail. I should have threatened to withhold rent during the 38 days!
I'm just so frustrated. The fact is, and I've said this before here...perhaps too many times...I love my apartment and my landlord has always been a moron. Tragically, I mean that in the technical sense.
Bad people are so much easier to deal with than broken people. You can expect improvement from someone who just needs education. With this guy, I believe there is something wrong with him to the degree that he just doesn't think. And I end up suffering from his stupid behavior.
He doesn't seem to respond to anything but threats. Blech.
I'm glad you and the other woman are (mostly) okay, Sail.
