Do airlines do that anymore?
No. I had to pay full fare to go to my grandfather's funeral.

Bereavment fares are awful. Very rarely any kind of decent discount. If you have them, you are better off using frequent flyer miles (they will sometimes waive requirements for use for bereavement)
IME, the web prices were better but with the bereavement/medical emergency they were really good about making multiple changes in travel dates/times.
Jet Blue specifically states that since they're a discount airline that they can't offer any further discounts. The $750 (-$30 because the only seats left on one leg were extra legroom seats that cost extra) is actually pretty close to all the fares I saw.

Drew, I'm so sorry that this all went so quickly. At the same time, I'm glad that it was peaceful and that your father was able to be home. I'm sure that meant the world to him and the rest of you.

An All-Star tradition you might be unfamiliar with:
Every year, after the AL manager addresses his team, Ichiro bursts from his locker, a bundle of kinetic energy, and proceeds, in English, to disparage the National League with an H-bomb of F-bombs, stunning first-timers who had no idea Ichiro speaks the queen’s language fluently and making returnees happy that they had played well enough to see the pep talk again.
The tradition began in 2001, Ichiro’s first All-Star appearance, and the AL hasn’t lost a game since. Coincidence?
I didn't think I could love Ichiro more.
