Yeah, but you're an amateur fry cook and I come from a long line of fry cooks that don't live past 25.

Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I've heard of Deer Isle, Maine! It's one of the two towns featured in Ken Burns Civil War miniseries as an example of how the war affected hometowns across both sides of the conflict.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That's where Nora was!

(I hope that's okay to have said, Nora)

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Ah, Billytea, I am happy for her, sad for you, sad for what might have been? If that makes any sense.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

It makes perfect sense, at least in the "what I couldn't quite figure out how to say" sense.

eta: BT, I'm also insanely happy for the life you have now. But that doesn't preclude ambivalence.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

bt, Kristin is wise here (wise often and in various other places as well, of course):

BT, you have every right to feel a bit weird about it, I think. I know I would. You can be happy for her and still not quite know what else you're feeling.

And this is a good safe place to feel you don't quite know what.

And now I must take Matilda away to get her ready for bed. She spent the last two hours tearing around all over the place and now she's sagging in my lap and about to drop her mango lassi (added to her love list: mango lassi and paneer; the saag, even very mild, was a little spicy for her).

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yes, this.

Argh. On another board, people are talking about the new recommendations for cholesterol drugs for kids, and there have been 20 posts so far, and every post other than mine has been along the lines of "If parents would just quit being lazy and start feeding their kids decent food, the cholesterol problems would go away." Need to punch something.

The status is NOT quo.

Perkins, she was visiting you, right? I know that is where your cabin is too, which is why I mentioned it. (If you'd prefer that info be private, I'm happy to delete.) Such a gorgeous place. Utterly idyllic. My favorite quirk about the island, though, is the fact that they have a ridiculous number of post offices for a tiny place. Well, that and their eccentric parades.

t hugs JZ for saying nice things about me

I am also so very happy for you and the Wallybee--I know you two are happier than you and Bec ever could have been--but I understand feeling a little odd and wistful about news like this. I really do.

She was at our place. I wasn't there though-- I probably won't make it there this summer.

The status is NOT quo.

So generous! I'm bummed you won't get to go there this summer, though.
