Spike's Bitches 41: Thrown together to stand against the forces of darkness

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

America is fun. I just walked to the 7-11 to pick up a few things. On the way (about three blocks) I passed families speaking at least three languages other than English -- Spanish, Arabic, and something that I think was Hindi. The Arabic-speaking family had a little tiny girl with super-long curly hair in pigtails tied with sparkly red and blue ribbons, a red shirt with a blue heart with sparkly white stars on it, and white socks with sparkly red hearts. Cutest thing ever.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Also Teppy, changing jobs does not have to mean changing careers. You are good at what you do and there is a lot of demand for it. You can go right on doing what you love, just for someone who is less of an asshat.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Teppy, your bosses sound like things are going out of control at their company, and you seem like a convenient scapegoat. (The plague of economic constriction has come upon us! Burn the witch liberal! Deity will reward us with balanced books!)

I hope that you find something better soon. You might want to look into communications departments at NGOs and other non-profits. Their pay doesn't tend to be stellar, but their bennies are often great. (I work for an NGO and got 3 weeks vacation my first year and 2 weeks sick leave in the bank the first day I started work.)

I am alone in my apartment.

This is a very strange feeling.

I'm getting the pig!

Here, have some nuns."

Ahahahaha! That's just funny. And I have a strong feeling that sentence will make it into every conversation I have for the next few days.

I'm glad your birthday has been lovely, sj!

Suzi, I hope you're getting lots of unpacking done.

Thanks to some issues with one of our systems at work, I had to bring home a ton of stuff to finish on my 'day off' today. Bleh. BUT - I'm more than half finished with it now and I'm taking a break, dammit. Besides, I'm fairly certain that the people I'm hanging out with tonight will appreciate it if I shower before coming over. Off to shower!

Happy 4th of July, y'all! Be safe.

Now that the TIVO has been found, and finally connected, I'm waiting (not so patiently {see tag}) for it to reprogram itself.

Any time now....

TIVO is working now, time to test the DVD. Gosh, what should I use as my test DVD? Supernatural Season 1? Ok, if you insist.

Guess I'm talking to myself, but the DVD player works...though I may need to watch a whole episode just to make sure nothing go wonky.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Yay for functional electronics. Few things are less fun than unpacking something to find that it now doesn't work.

I may need to watch a whole episode just to make sure nothing go wonky.

This is probably wise

Our wings are not tired

though I may need to watch a whole episode just to make sure nothing go wonky.

This is a sound choice, you need to check and make sure that the laser will track correctly across it's entire range of motion. You need to not just watch the whole episode, but rather, watch the whole disc, it's the only way to be sure.
