am completely mad at CTY for pixkristin. get your shit together peoples. that's ridiculous.
and a similar sort of thing happened to me my first semester with them 10 years ago. it got better, once I was finally in the database.
Aw, thanks Sox. I finally did find out that I can add the requisition to the form I already filled out, so I won't have to redo the entire thing. THANK GOD.
Just for fun, though, let me tell you all that I have now filled out eight release forms including background check and checks on all of my colleges and school jobs. I need to fax them today.
I got tax forms, too, and now I have these instrcutions:
Hi Kristin,
I apologize for the confusion but you were never technically hired into our system. I need to process the release forms (esp. background check) to get you on payroll. The tax forms, including the Form I-9 which needs to be notarized, are attached.
1- We will need you to fill in the attached forms to complete your payroll account. We will need to view the original documents for the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. A list of acceptable documents is shown in the instructions on the I-9 form. Because you will not be able to visit us in person, you may have the Form I-9 notarized and send the original copy of the notary's certification with your I-9 by regular mail.
2- Please sign on to JHUJobs [link] and apply for Requisition 36203. You originally applied to our "master" requisition. This one is specifically for your payroll account.
3- Please answer these questions for payroll input:
Nationality (ie: US American, etc)
Residence status: (US citizen, resident alien, etc)
VISA type (if appl):
Emergency Contact Information: (Name, address, zip, phone);
If you have any questions, please call or e-mail me.

Gah, Kristin! Universities full of smart people can be such idiots.
Yeah...universities bring bureaucracy to an art form. The kind of art where someone strips naked, lights his pubic hair on fire and starts singing the National Anthem.

Kristin, I remember having to go through similar hoops the first year I worked for CTY a few years ago. I think it's because they've got the CTY requirements and the JHU requirements, too. Once you're in their system, though, if you want to work for them again, it's much easier.
My lunch date is running late. I picked up Chinese food an hour ago. It's in an ACed house, still in its bag. It feels like it's still hot. Is it ok to leave it out, do you think? She probably won't be here for another half hour or so.
I love the Discovery song beyond all reason. Thank heaven for it, and the Matt dancing. Some days that and my fingernails make the difference between here and not, you know?
I know it sucks, Erin, but Monday is the better part of valour. Hold on, girl. You'll get through it.
vw, your doggie exploits are kinda fascinating. Plus, a trouble-fomentor named Iris? Is just absurd. (Right, Sox?)
I can add the requisition to the form I already filled out, so I won't have to redo the entire thing. THANK GOD.
Well, thank Pete for small favors. No, not that Pete. The metaphorical non-existant sort of Pete. As it were. (Hi, Pete!) You're a much better person than I, PK, 'cause I think as much as you're hating this class, in your shoes, I'd just respond, "Well, since technically I'm not employed by you, then I'm not teaching your classes any more. Please see my requisition for payment for services rendered to date. Thank you, and have a lovely tomorrow." But then I'm a bitter old cow, so, you might muster a bit more tolerance than I for their hopeless muddle of cluelessness.
Yay for Teddy's counts, and his presence still among us! Go, kitty. Way to defy the odds!
Wait. There's a smonster AND a calli back on b.org? Dooood. Sweeeeet. And Hi!
Thanks for all the good wishes. It's one of those anniversaries that end in zero, so you know, milestone. I'm taking him for crab legs for dinner. That'll put a smile on his face for sure.

OK, Steven Hawking going "boomdeyada" just rocks.
sj, I wished you happy in Natter, but it bears repeating: May this day be a wonderful birthday for you, and may the year ahead be filled with new experiences, happy times, friends, and love.
