Where'd they get CAT scan from?... I mean, did they test it on cats? Or does the machine sort of look like a cat?

Happiest of birthdays to you, Hec!!!

Tears have been flowing, but we are going to go to our local shelter today and see if there is a kitty that needs to come home with us.

The status is NOT quo.

Happy Birthday to Hec!

I am seeking hivemind help. Yesterday when my friend C. and I were cleaning up the backyard before Omnis' going away party, we discovered the hard way that yellow jackets were building a nest in an opening in our foundation (!!) in a corner of the patio. I got stung twice: once just above my right eyebrow and once on the top of my head. I'm not allergic, but my father is, so I took two Benedryl. The stings still hurt, but the swelling went down, and it seemed fine. We were able to destroy the nest with wasp/hornet spray, so that was all set too. I took two more Benedryl before I went to sleep just in case.

Well I woke up this morning with my right eye swollen almost completely shut. I have to assume this is an aftereffect of the sting (can toxins slide down from an eyebrow to an eyelid this far after the fact?), but now I'm really worried. I just took two more Benedryl and am icing my eye, but I'm not sure what to make of this or if I need to go to Urgent Care.

Anyone have any insights?

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Honestly,if you are breathing ok , feeling ok, you probably don't need urgent care. However, you may be developing allergies to the bees-- so you might want to talk to a doctor about it.-- more for future stuff

Ok, Beth, that sounds good. Do you have any sense of how long this swelling might last, and should the Benedryl help? It's not swollen completely shut, but I can't see clearly out of it--everything's a big blur--and it's pretty uncomfortable.

Because books.

My brother is allergic, and the swelling, like beth said, is only urgent if you're having trouble breathing. But you're probably definitely allergic, based on the reaction -- Urgent Care probably isn't necessary, but you should talk to a doctor about it for the future, in case you need to carry an EpiPen.

Ok, so no Urgent Care, but this is an emerging allergy I need to talk with my GP about. So Benedryl, ice, and wait, huh? Anyone have any idea how long this should last?

This is a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things, but man, the Universe can back the hell off. I need to be whole and functional right now if I'm going to be able to help ND (who is still sick) and keep the house running while he's gone.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ouch, Kristin. You guys are past due for a good long stretch of totally uneventful.

Kristin, honestly I'm a little surprised it swelled again overnight. So ... I'm not really sure when it'll go down completely. How's the one on your head?

The one on my head seems completely normal, which makes no sense. The only thing I can think is that it was a smaller sting than the first one and not near sensitive skin like the eyebrow.

Thanks for the advice, everyone.
