Played with Kaylee. Sun came out, and I walked on my feet and heard with my ears. I ate the bits, the bits stayed down, and I work. I function like I'm a girl. I hate it because I know it'll go away. The sun goes dark and chaos has come again. Bits. Fluids. What am I?!

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Do you have a fine cheese grater, laga?

I believe I do. Cool!

he needs to go for some tow lessons with the hang glider.

Tow lessons? How does that work?

How does that work?

If you have a large enough hill, you can take off when your air speed gets to about 15-20 mph. Without a hill, you need a truck or a winch or an ultra-light to get you going fast enough. In SF we were spoiled by Ft. Funston, where you basically just step off the cliff and pop right up.

Of course, once you're flying you hope for enough lift to keep you in the air.

Ahh OK. So if you don't have a hill you need a partner with a truck... or can one person operate a winch? Also how cool is the name Ft. Funston?

answering my own question... looks like you need a partner for the winch too... and a big chunk of change.

Here's a video of a tow out at Hollister, CA, where both my DH and I learned the foot launch (not tow) method off a hill (the tow was added later): [link]

You have to have lessons and get certified to use the tow method separately from your foot launch certification. It's good to have because you can always get high enough that you get a decent flight, even if it just a sled ride.

So is there anywhere to go hang gliding in DC, Sparky?

I slept in later today than I have in months, I think. I was shocked, but then I remembered that I upped my dose of meds that make me very sleepy, last night. Not that it really matters that I slept in or anything, but.

Also: OH MY GOSH, VW!!!! I'm glad you had a good time! And EEEEEE!!!! And JEALOUS!!! You go girl.

And congrats to K-bug.

I feel like I should do something fun today, since the weather is so nice...there's a softball game later that I might go to, but I have no plans all weekend. I want plans...

Yay vw! My previous comments re: up in trees, stand.

Also, we got a blender today and we're drinking frozen margaritas! I know this isn't exciting for most of you, but in most of Europe, you cannot get a margarita for love nor money. So, yay! Also, we're going to see the new Hulk movie soon. Also yay.

Also also, hope you feel better sj! I was very, very ill in work one day this week, and the entire office managed to convince me I was pregnant. Assholes. I'm not, by the way.
