Crap, Susan. That's unspeakably awful.
(((DJ))) That does indeed suck like a convention full of whores. No bloody housepoints for Mr Jane, with the stupid. But what they said - you're hot, smart, and fabulous.
Jars - what they said. But also - ask yourself what made you sit down and MAKE a tray of things that were off plan. Previously, I've been shocking for sabotaging myself any time I decided to start a diet, and promptly giving up. It's like some voice in the back of my head panics, thinks: "shit, if I
try
to do this thing I so desperately want to do, I may fail! Or I may succeed, and discover that it's not the weight that's the problem, it's me being rubbish!" and immediately fall on my sword. Or, you know, my entire packet of biscuits. (Not happening now. I'm in the right headspace. Yay!) Maybe, if you can figure out what the catalyst was, you can prevent them happening in the future. (Or even just stop a little earlier - only make half, or only eat half, or take control in some other way.)
Finally, in the cold light of day I must apologise for my negativity about the SATC movie. I mean, I meant every word - but there was no need to come and piss all over it, when folks haven't seen it yet, and some of you are bound to enjoy it. I mean, my friend N in Cairo ADORES the show, and my friend S (who planned last night's party) not only adores the show but
IS
Carrie, absobloodylutely through and through. I think the pressure of biting my tongue for several hours in the presence of SATC fans, so as not to detract from their enjoyment, definitely kicked courtesy to the curb there (well, that and the Cosmpolitans) - but I hate it when someone disses one of my shows or books or movies, so I'm ashamed of having done the same thing.
Not my bag, as you'll gather. But the others in my party enjoyed the hell out of it.
Fay, I don't think you have anything to apologize for. You're entitled to your opinion--especially when you describe the events related in such an entertaining manner!
I would catch a few minutes of an episode here and there while it was on, and think it atrocious, shallow crap. However, my two close friends bought me the entire series for one of my birthdays and told me that the tone changed considerably in the last couple of seasons and that they thought I'd like it. They were right; the women (to me) became more honest, complete friends to each other and it was more fun to watch. Generally, though, every episode had at least three instances of my eyes rolling so hard at Carrie that I'd have headaches by the end of the 22 minutes...
Oh Fay, I wasn't responding to you personally. From what I've been reading most of the folks here who saw the film weren't that impressed.
Oh, I totally bashed on it! Cheerfully and with AND without malice. My eyes rolled so much during that movie, I kept the airflow going in the theatre.
Some eps I liked; some, not so -- but I only caught them here and there.
Fay,
Death Note
is nuts! I just got to the part where
L ENROLLS IN LIGHT'S COLLEGE AND TRIES TO BE BUDDIES WITH HIM.
INSANE!
For the record, Pete, Husband of Reason,is Super adorable.
So is his wife even when Plei is trying to break her.

DH watched the whole series before he saw the movie (because he was reviewing it and does things like that) and said the same thing. So maybe I'll just watch the last two seasons and get the backstory from Wikipedia.
I watched the last season OnDemand, and I was always itching for them to put up the next episode.
Oh Fay, I wasn't responding to you personally.
No, no, it wasn't anything that anyone said that made me feel embarrassed - just rereading my own post this morning I thought how sad I'd feel if someone was so disparaging about something I liked. There's no need to trample on people's beautiful cake.
P-C, you just provoked clapping and Paul Gross arms here in the middle of my classroom (it's the Thai lesson, so I'm sitting quietly using the PC while the kids do Thai things). The twisty twists keep right on coming! I loved the bit when
you discover who Light's dad is.
(And, OMG, have I mentioned that I heart L? Weirdo brainiac sugarjunky freak that he is?)
You have mentioned it! He has CRAZY EYES.
I love Ryuk. I think he would be a hoot to have around.
