I can't remember what I did before I had buffistas to answer all my questions.
sj, I concur completely! For some reason, lying in bed this morning, I wondered, do all egg-layers have cloacas? Or is it only birds, esp. chickens? Must ask Buffistas.
Then I fell back asleep again. I don't know why I was thinking about cloacas.
sj, maybe add some breakfast pastries and fruit?

TCG's stepmother is going to bring fruit, and I was thinking bagels, something like a pumpkin bread or a banana bread, and little espresso brownies. If we get really ambitious we may try to make waffles in our new waffle iron that we got as an engagement gift. I need to figure out something for my mother to bring. I think she'll be coming from the beach, so maybe something that can survive a long drive.

Maybe it's just me, but I think that sounds like a really bad idea. Try that out at a brunch with friends where the potential for disaster won't be stressing you out.
Then
give it a run with the in-laws.
Fay, you are completely obliged to create (at the very least) a social opportunity soon with Bloke and Mate and you and Slings and Arrows.
Back from our second nailbiting playoff game. This one was 2-1 and fiercely contested all the way down the line. Our best player Arlo, pitched a masterpiece, keeping the best hitting team in the league in check. The other team hit four home runs in their previous game but Arlo threw his knuckle-curve all day to their best hitters and then cranked up his fastball for the bottom of the line up.
Emmett had a mixed game. Two strikeouts, but then a big double down the line. A nice play at shortstop, but then he had an errant throw from catcher that almost cost us the game. But it didn't!
So now we're in the finals.
And Matilda is very interested in sitting on the potty. I am hoping that all the tsurris we had with Emmett and potty training has earned us some karma.
Had a great time at The Museum of Jurassic Technology yesterday but the whole place was so baffling that when we three emerged, blinking, into the sunlight we had to add on a trip to the tar pits to remind our brains what a museum that makes sense feels like.
Hee. Was that your first time? I'm sorry you couldn't come with us when I was in town!
First time, yes. We agreed that it felt as though we'd missed "Museum A" where the premise was established and started right in on "Museum B". When we got home we looked it up on Wikipedia and that helped to answer some of our questions. The tea was lovely and so was the borzoi who hung out with us while we nibbled our cookies.
brenda, if we do decide to make waffles, we'll test out the waffle iron this week. Waffles for dinner!
Currently we're headed out to a festival at a Greek church for dinner. I hope it's good. I've been looking forward to it all week.
Her head may go boom over bloke and mate, but I think all of ours went boom with the image of Fay/bloke/mate in a threeway.

My head has gone boom over the prospect of Fay and two of her smart theater-people friends MST3King Slings and Arrows. The possibility it might become porny is just icing on the fun bits cake.
There's a toddler having a melt-down in the game room right now. His momma is standing there patiently holding his hands while he screams and sobs and cries. I feel so bad for his mom and at the same time I am awed at her kindness and patience with just letting him get it out of his system no matter how long it takes. It's going on ten minutes. I see so many parents drag their kids around and shout at them and threaten them. Much as I dislike listening to this kid's tantrum, I am so thankful to see his mom handling it in such a gentle fashion.
