Tara: What's so bad about them coming here? Aren't they good guys? I mean, Watchers, that's just like whole other Gileses, right? Buffy: Yes! They're scary and horrible!

OK, well, options. If we go for it, I would likely need a little assistance to pass and we'll definitely be lighter on cards for the danger that awaits.

If we tank, being in sickbay wouldn't be terrible for me, at least not right away. If the Admiral spends the Fuel, he'd definitely be tipping his hand, but it could well be worth it to the toasters to do so. That seems like a serious risk. Also, going that route gets us no information regarding anyone's loyalty unless that risk goes bad.

I think I will need to read the rules on the Loyalty Deck some more...

I'll mention too, Starbuck plays first into this check. We(well, you; I'm no help either way) don't need to decide whether to go for it until we see what she does.

It's still the Chief and Baltar to declare on interrupts, yes?

Just Baltar, I have COs from Chief. I forgot to mail the spreadsheet to myself this morning, so I won't do anything further until 6ish board time anyway.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Pass on interrupts.

I can help with the check, but I'm also okay with tanking it in order to save cards.

How much distance was the jump, anyway?

It's a 2-Distance jump, gets us to 5 total.

The more I think about it (and having looked at what Super Crises might entail), I'm leaning towards tanking.

Hm. I`m leaning the other way. I could only help a tiny bit, or I could interrupt and then help a moderate bit. But it would be limiting later. I guess I`m just feeling suspicious about tanking right at sleeper stage, especially when there is such potential for bigtime damage. I`ll yield to the overall consensus, though.

It's Battlestar Awesome, is what it is! Seriously, this is IMO the best part of the game, when the paranoia is at its peak and the every move, comment and suggestion gets put under the microscope.

I do think we should tank. Destiny's got a 1 in 3 chance of being double negative, it'll probably cost at least 5 cards' worth to be fairly confident of passing. Purple is positive for every Super Crisis Check. If Starbuck has Inbound Nukes and we fail, we lose Fuel. If she has Bomb on C1 and we fail, not only does Morale fall but we lose Colonial One. No more Press Room, no more President's Office, and if Baltar's the Toaster, we're pretty screwed trying to get the Presidency off him.

Other checks for which we'll need Purple and Red:

Scouting for Water
Scouting for Fuel
Legendary Discovery

As it currently stands, at the start of Starbuck's turn, the Human:Cylon card balance could be anywhere from 16:5 to 10:11, depending on who's the other Toaster. We're just not well provisioned right now. We are going to lose skill checks. The only question is, will they be the ones we choose to tank, or ones where we try to pass, spend up and still fall short.

So that's why I think we should tank this one. Reasons why you shouldn't listen to me:

  • I'm not offering to play anything for this check anyway.
  • This is exactly what I'd be arguing if I were a Cylon.

But hey. On the plus side, if we do fail this, at least you'll find out for sure where my loyalties lie.
