Gaming 1: You are likely to be eaten by a grue
A thread for the discussion of games: board, LARP, MMORPG, video, tabletop RPG, game theory etc. etc. and all attendant news, developments and ancillary subjects thereof, as well as coordinating/scheduling games either online or IRL. All are welcome to chime in, talk about their favorite games or learn about gaming of any sort.
PLEASE TO WHITEFONT SPOILERS for video games, RPG modules or anything for which foreknowledge of events might lessen one's enjoyment of whatever gaming experience.
Oh that's right, I forgot about the sympathizer card.
I'm sorry, I'm still deciding about my ability. I told Omnis I would use my power to
increase
the difficulty but now I'm having second thoughts.
Would it be possible for people to change their minds about playing cards? I don't want to make people waste cards but I have a bad feeling about letting Boomer out of the pokey.
BSG
I think you need to do whatever you think makes sense, but no one has said anything that would convince me to change my COs.
(Note: I'm not dismissing your feeling about this, as I have a separate one all my own, but I would need more than that to change going with the odds on this one.)
BSG
I would probably feel differently if I hadn't previously been Boomer and a cylon. I was just itching to get out of the brig so I could play my super crisis card.
BSG
As much as "I've got a bad feeling about this" I can't stand the idea of humans making other humans spend precious cards. I REVERSE my previous COs and
let me talk to this judge I know
reduce the difficulty by 2.
Re: Fallout 3
Funily enough, Sean, I'm playing it at the moment too, but on the PS3. A friend lent it to me and I've been peppering my late evenings with it.
How different our game experiences must be just based on any given direction we take is a fascinating thing. Problem is, by the time we could both talk about it and not risk spoilers we'd have forgotten a thousand little details.
FYI, in the perks I took three levels of Fast Learner to really ramp up that XP gain.
Fallout 3 is on my list of games I really need to play through.
Oh ND, you should just scrap that list, and just enjoy your Starcraft. You'd need a clone to get through your wish list.
And as much as I'm looking forward to Halo: Reach, I'm actually more eager for Brink. Take note the front page loads and auto-runs one of their vids. It is well worth watching, FYI.
The game features a great acronym; SMART which stands for Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain. What that means is that the game involves a lot of parkour like obstacle tackling while in gunfights.
But beyond that, there is the objective creation system which gives you mini-missions that can help your side. They can vary from healing teammates to finding a downed opponent who can be interrogated. It's a pretty cool system and I recommend you check out all the vids in the link above.
Starcraft is one of my true loves in video games. I was planning to play it some over the weekend, and instead I stayed in the hospital. If all goes well I'll get some time to play it this coming weekend.
Fallout 3 is huge. It's kind of mind numbing, at first. My first go through didn't last, but this one has. Even the guide book I got to help menplumb the depths is only semi-helpful, and vie mostly been using it for item location. Even then, it's a poorly cross-referenced morass.
And I have the GotY edition too, so this will be entertaining me in my free moments for a while.

Looks the President has flip flopped again. But, we have a directive. We have enabled
FRIENDS IN LOW PLACES,
and have made the escape
EASIER!
Alas, I don't have the Destiny Deck draw here at work. When I get home, I'll post the start of the check.
