In the course of drawing two yellow cards, the Politics deck was depleted, and reshuffled.

Congratulations crew, your tin box is all fixed up. No more damage to the old bird.

Next step is the Chief draws a crisis card. Stop if this sounds familiar:
Food Shortage
President Choice

E-mail sent with details. Discuss.

Assuming that players can choose which cards they discard (can they?), my vote is for losing only 1 food, which is all we need to go into red.

You can choose which cards to discard unless you're Apollo, IIRC--that his discards are random is his weakness.

Bleah choice. I'd almost rather be attacked by cylons at this point (knock wood that I don't jinx us).

Speaking of XOing people to draw cards, people can also XO me now to draw cards from the research lab; we're a little short on blues IIRC. More tactics is never bad either.

Of course, should emergencies arise, I'm also all for XOs being saved to go toward protecting the fleet with military actions, or to be otherwise used as the players best see fit.

Chief, sounds like you are proposing the "Shotgun" option. One of everything.

Agreed. We need only lose one more, and don't want to overdo it.

Actually, as fleets go we're pretty good with Blue. It rarely turns up in skill checks, and when it does, Purple is invariably positive too. The only other thing we need it for is repairs, and with the Chief on board (Mr Fix-It extraordinaire) and even one backup (me), our need for more is pretty limited.

Tactics is useful. However, we draw 9 Tactics per cycle, spread over all players except the Chief. Our Politics draw per cycle is generally less than half that, and not only does Yellow count positive fairly often (albeit usually in the company of Green), but that's where the ICs live.

Another suggestion. With this Crisis Card, Food is dropping into the Red. That pretty much means we're ready to hit the Sleeper Phase, and we'll be one icon away from jumping. If someone (other than the Admiral, of course) is able to order a scouting mission or two, this would be a great time to start running through the Destination Deck looking for a 3 Distance option.

Unfortunately, I can't do any scouting. Mr Zarek, do you have any capability here?

Edit: apologies, President Zarek.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

You know, Chief, if you'd wanted us to have more Yellow, an XO to me would've allowed us to draw twice as many new cards.

Sorry, forgot about the two actions, so two draws part. But really, that Y1 wasn't going to be useful for much of anything anyway.

And hey, the extra card in my hand helps out for the Food Shortage if we decide to go the discard route.

While I hate to lose more cards, I don't really want to take too much of a hit to Food. While Zarek could conceivably gets us back one Food in an emergency, I doubt he'd be so inclined if he's a toaster (not that I'm suggesting he is). I don't want to rely on any plan that requires a specific person not to be a Cylon.

I can take a 3 card hit without it being too expensive, so I vote we lose 1 Food and cards.

Attention citizens! Thanks to timely intervention by myself and the chief, the hole in the cattle transport ship has been patched and we were able to save half the beef.

I choose option one and discard two Yellow 1.
