"I've got a gun! I've got a mother-flippin' gun!" - Moss, The IT Crowd

Omnis, there are multiplayer games in GTA IV, and they all take place within the very detailed city, but the story aspect is single player only.

If you have a next-gen system you really should have this game.

You know, S always complains that she's bored. I wonder if she'll buy it that I picked up a PS3 and GTA4 for her.

Our wings are not tired

Get the Xbox 360, not the PS3.

But a PS3 would be a blu-ray player, too!

But if I got an Xbox, I could play online games with my friends....

DAMMIT!

So far the library of games on the 360 seems to be better than the PS3. I'm sure I'll eventually get a PS3, but there's nothing pressing at the moment.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Sean, as much as I hate to have to admit it, the 360 would probably make more sense for you -- what with the whole gang available for online play (for us, getting the PS3 was the clear choice, since we have about a jillion and three PS1 and 2 games and our PS2 was rapidly dying. Plus, just as a matter of personal taste, Metal Gear > Halo. Blu-Ray is really great-looking, but it's pure bonus and not really the reason to buy it.)

Or you could get both. But that might be harder to explain to S.

move out and draw fire

Sean, get the 360. And Rock Band.

I've played various TR & RE games (not all though), and from what I've seen they don't hold a candle to the quality of characterization in GTA.

ITA. I lived GTA Vice City vicariously.

You know what I miss? I miss the bike. I tooled around Los Santos on my bike a lot.

Axl Rose did a great job as a DJ in GTA3, so Iggy Pop doesn't surprise me.

Thanks to some wonderful friends, I do have the 360. Thinking about getting the game, based on all the reports in here. The barb that's hookin' me is the story aspect. The thing that is keeping me at bay, aside from cost, is the violence. Ya, I know. I play 1stPS games, whats the diff. This gives both driving AND shooting. Double your pleasure! But I have a bunch of games I never play... hard to justify buying another.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

ohh Angry Bob! (does anbody else remember the movie Hardware?)

Late to the...ahem...game, but YES!!!

Female stoner industrial artist hero, who is capable of saving herself. Dystopic future. Iggy Pop as the voice of Angry Bob. Combat robot run amok.

Don't forget the geeky sidekick who's tripping on acid for most of the movie. Played by that UK actor who I'm memfaulting on, but I swear several Buffista women have lusted after.
