Gaming 1: You are likely to be eaten by a grue

All are welcome to chime in, talk about their favorite games or learn about gaming of any sort.

Malificum's fights tend to be two hit affairs -- the opposing brute gets hit by the bear and then hits the ground.
Seriously, they rarely last more than two exchanges, and Malificum has lost only one fight. In one of the recent tournaments, Malificum beat an 11th and 12th level opponent, before being beaten by a 10th level brute who was smart enough to ignore the bear and simply beat on Mal.
I don't think game balance was a serious consideration in the design of this game...
I blame you all. I now own the BSG boardgame.
I walked into the (new!) game store within walking distance of my apartment (woe be my checking account), and picked it up.
The convo went like this:
The proprietor gave me a Look and said, "If you're sure you know what you're getting into, that's an excellent game."
Me: "Some friends are playing a play-by-post game on a message board."
Him: "On boardgamegeek.com?"
Me: "No, a message board devoted to the Whedonverse and Buffy."
Him: "So if I order you a copy of the Buffy boardgame, you'll buy it, right?"
I blinked. "Yes."
And so he did.
I LOVE THIS STORE.

We shall once again pause for interrupts (Investigative Committee and Scientific Research). All players (except Roslin, who's out of cards) please post or send me whether you play or pass on interrupts.
Stunt Husband, that is made of awesome! I love the direct sales pitch approach. And how easily you caved.
So? Is this a good game? Do we want to try a Buffy Play n Post? As in, should I be looking into buying it too?
I wonder if it would be cool or confusing to have a couple games going at the same time in this manner. We've been pretty good with the BSG headers.

It rates 6.40 on BoardGameGeek, which is not spectacular, but still pretty decent, especially for a TV show tie-in. (You can find reviews, session reports etc here [link] (Unsurprisingly, Battlestar Galactica is the top-rated TV show tie-in at 7.79.)
I would probably beg off playing it - I don't know enough about it and how well it's suited to forum play - but don't let that discourage you.
I don't have it yet - he's ordered it. It'll be a few weeks. :)
I'll let you know when it arrives. :)
I thought it was out of print. Cool Game Store Guy. Also, his comment on BSG was exactly right.

Karma's a bitch.

Hee. Admiral Adama, you stand accused of toasterhood. Do you wish to play any interrupts?
BSG
I do not. I live for surprise.

In that case, I have heard from everyone and there are no interrupts, so let's start the check. In turn, please post the number of cards you play, and send me the details. President Roslin begins, but is out of cards. Admiral Adama, you will finish off the check. As always, feel free to send me COs if it is not yet your turn.
