PANDEMIC

The Medic rents a Nissan Altima and drives to Washington D.C. before grabbing a train to New York. The Medic then distributes a proven antiviral drug that has shown efficacy against the blue fever and transforms New York from a disease-ridden dystopia to an unaffordable-housing dystopia. Then she takes a short-haul flight on an American Airlines Airbus 319-100 to Montreal and hangs out at a bar next to the airport.

The Medic then draws New York (Blue) and Santiago (Yellow)

Meanwhile the Red Death appears in Manila and Zombies are spotted in Baghdad.

Oh, a little change in the map, you'll see shields around the cities protected from infection by the Quarantine Specialist.

I was thinking to move in the direction of London, but something I can't quite make out: does Atlanta have two cubes on it? If so, maybe I should stay in the Atlanta-Chicago vicinity.

Are we still going ahead with the Atlanta handover to the Ops Expert? The Medic got another Blue card, but it's still easier to pass off those cards.

Another option proposed by my loyal sidekick: we could pass Atlanta to the Researcher. Then it's easily available to either player. Less action-efficient, but it's an option.

I say stick with the plan. I'd rather have more flexibility with where the Medic goes since the Ops Expert can essentially create their own portal when they need to.

If I am still heading to Montreal via Chicago, I can zap Chicago once on the way. With only 2 on both, we have plenty of time to clean them up. Plus, if you head to London (or actually maybe Madrid would be better now that I think of it), you will protect all the cities around you over there. One reason I love the QS is that she often protects you from the eventual epidemic through happenstance.

This is also true. However, if we have London covered for the time being, and an epidemic hits elsewhere soon, the Medic is actually positioned quite well to burn NY to take care of wherever it is.

The other option would be for the QS to pass me Atlanta and treat it, then move to Chicago to protect it. Then I go straight to Montreal get the card and end up in NY. Then the Researcher does [treat Chicago?] and on the Medic's turn they hand me NY on the way to treat London (if there's no epidemic in the meantime).

We are liking the Ops Expert's suggestions. If you're headed for NYC, you'll have one spare action, so we might leave Atlanta for you to address and just treat Chicago. So:

Pass Atlanta to the Ops Expert
Chicago!
Inject bleach into at least two citizens

PANDEMIC

The QS drops a giant binder of public health studies in Atlanta onto the Ops Expert's desk before renting a Hyundai Sonata and driving to Chicago. While in Chicago the QS hangs out on the L and sneakily injects people with bleach. This works surprisingly well in mitigating the spread of the Blue Fever.

Then the QS draws Cairo (Blank) and an epidemic!

Algiers is overrun by zombies, putting it on the brink. Then infection tries to spread in Atlanta, but even in Chicago the QS totally contains the situation and Atlanta remains unchanged. However, the Red Death does spread in Hong Kong.

Remind me, did we decide the Researcher was going to get my Monreal card? I can't get both London and Algiers but I can make it back to New York.

I think we had agreed on the OpsEx going to Montreal and ending in NY to get NY on the Medic's next turn (Medic could also still treat London on that turn so the Researcher could get Algiers by chartering a flight from Los Angeles).

However, if we think London/Algiers is more pressing, the OpsEx could burn Mexico City to jump to Madrid/Paris, build a station, and treat either Algiers or London with the Researcher getting the other without using a card.

I sort of lean toward keeping the plan and collecting blues only because the potential outbreaks are fairly easy to clean up at this point, especially if we cure blue early. Remember the OpsEx can build wherever so I don't have to worry about getting back somewhere for a cure.

The Quarante is good with keeping to the original plan. If we all scatter to do treatment, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to get everyone lined up again for sharing Blue cards.
