I'll pick up again, sure, billytea
Oh I missed my chance. But I'll watch and cheer.
I'm getting ready to roll up a new D&D character, and I just spent the last 15 minutes sorting through sets of dice deciding which would be the best to use, with side excursions into "character rolling" vs "play use" attributes. It's going to take some time, though, because my dice have been dormant for several years, and they need time to wake up and stretch before I settle.
Please tell me I'm not the only one.
edit: And the last remnant of a set of Hubby's dice made from bone and silver is not with the other dice. They better not have been lost in the move, though those dice are problematic for me to use. Hubby was officially banned from using them in his gaming community, because they would roll on command, as demonstrated in front of witnesses.
I'm scratching my head about my D&D players. So they picked up a magical axe off a baddy. Before encountering him, I had told them stories about how this person was known to be obsessed with his magical axe, was notorious for his temper and was often regarded as more dangerous to his allies than his enemies. I know things that are obvious to me as a DM aren't necessarily obvious to the players, so when they took the axe and gave it to their dwarven paladin despite the warning signs I didn't really hold against them.
However, when the curse triggered in their next battle, causing the paladin to go berserk, nearly killing the barbarian before they managed to get the axe away from him through a combination of Hold Person, wrenching it out of his grasp and then everyone running away which broke him out of his mindless rage, I was not expecting them to give it back to him after the battle. (The paladin player, for his part, is doing an excellent job of RPing his character's obsession with the axe due to the curse.)
I'm sure it was a momentary aberration.
Connie you're not the only one who has some weird dice habits. There are even witches you can send your dice to who will remove curses and send them back.
Kalshane I recently had a party discover an ancient temple full of cursed sepulchers. Most of them figured out that the 'blessings' the dead wished to bestow on them were not worth it but the barbarian accepted four blessings and is now short tempered, egotistical, covered in oily black fur, and has to eat a pound of bones or graveyard dirt per day or he will die.

I think it's kind of unfair for you to mock my brother like that. Barbarian indeed.

We are almost ready to begin game 10 of Race for the Galaxy - now with double digits! I shall be sending out starting hands and whatnot once everything's ready. Here are the parameters:
- We're using the base game and the first two expansions.
- That means we have enough cards to support six players! They are:
omnis
chrismg
Connie Neil
Ryan
-t
Laga
- We are using goals, as we have for the last few games.
- Starting hand: every player will receive six cards and discard two, so they start with 4 cards in hand. They will also receive two starting world options, and choose one to start their layout.
It's been a while since last we played. If anyone needs a refresher on anything, just let me know.

And what did the curses do to him? (I have yet to encounter a barbarian in-game that wasn't short-tempered or egotistical and the fur and dirt-eating aren't really that much of a stretch.)
