There are six Galactica locations that can be damaged. There are two additional damage tokens, for Fuel and Food. It will therefore take between five and seven hits to destroy Galactica.

Helo escapes punishment by -- did you just open fire on Galactica?!? Well, that got their attention at least. Damage is:
