GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

In other news: D&D 5th edition has arrived. The basic rules are being offered for free. [link]

Hah, I was just about to link that, BT. Supposedly they're going to update the free rules as the PHB and DMG are released later this year. (Which they pretty much have to do to remain competitive, since Pathfinder has had their complete rules, including all their hardcovers, online since the game's inception.)

I've only skimmed so far, and I think there's some interesting ideas in there. Not sure it's enough to lure me away from Pathfinder. It definitely seems like it might be less work on the DM's part, which could be a nice break from the supreme crunch and fiddliness in Pathfinder.

Sickbay, no?

Let's see what horrors Caprica has in store for you this time, humans.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

BSG

Horrors of Caprica have been sent to Romo. When you're ready, please post your choice.

Well, that doesn't sound too bad. Possible interrupts: IC, SR, RO, ASC, Reckless. Everyone, please pass or play. You can also send me COs for the check itself. Zarek plays first, Romo last.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

BSG

Hey folks, FYI. The next few days I'm going to be a bit preoccupied with wedding stuff. My online time will be sporadic through Tuesday.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

BSG (Kat)

Frak I feel like we have to pass this but I can only help a little.

BSG ("Chief" Galen Tyrol)

We will pass this.

Chief Tyrol promises, but can he deliver? As the initial payment, he offers the following interrupts:

Restore Order 4
Scientific Research 5

Blue is now positive for this check. In addition, the skill check abilities of 0-value and Treachery cards will have no effect within the check! A bold move there. Chief Tyrol: leader of men. Control freak. Furry.

Everyone else passes on interrupts. The check begins:

An Offer of Peace: 12 (6) YG(B)

Destiny: 2 cards
Zarek:
Kat:
Chief:
Romo: (max 1 card)

Zarek is first.

[DnD 5th ed commentary]

Yeah, I'm digging the hell out the ruleset so far. Even the stuff I'm not as hep on looks like it'll be easy to sub out. I ran my crew through the Caves of Chaos with various iterations of the playtest rules, and I have to say I'm pretty happy with what they brought out of the test.

I've been running a mid-high range Pathfinder game for the last few months, and as much fun as it is, I'm finding myself growing less and less fond of the fiddly numbers-wankery and infinite rules-cruft. I'm hoping this will prove a pleasant alternative.
