I keep hitting refresh, but no posts happen! Patience? Me? Not so much lately.

Do I need to start rooting for the toasters?

No! The humans have been on the brink of dying since almost the beginning. Toasters don't need any help. Hell, even Spidey is amazed we are still alive, just ask Laga.

I'm still waiting for the game where the toasters can take out team human before the sleeper phase.

They just had one of those on BGG. Finished in ten turns, amidst a hail of attack cards. They never even made it to the first jump. It involved an interesting quirk - the game ended with a raider activation, where the raiders first destroyed the last remining civvies - dropping Population to 0 - and then turned their guns on Galactica. They rolled hot, and Galactica (which was already heavily damaged) was destroyed.

The interesting part is that resource losses only occur at turn end - if, during a turn, a resource drops to 0, but then gets bumped back up before turn end, the game continues. However, losses due to Galactica's destruction take effect immediately. Therefore, even though Population hit rock bottom first, technically it counted as a damage loss.
