Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Beggars Can't Be Choosers

After shifting the burger bag to one hand and another smile at her benefactor, she leaned down and picked up her tip jar. Turning left, she started towards the flop in a walk/jog. The scent of warm burgers was making her mouth water; she had to get back fast.

It took her 10 minutes. She'd stuffed the donated bag inside her coat to preserve its heat. Cold food was a beggar's lot, but she didn't like to think of herself as a beggar. Beggars didn't have obligations.

Inside, she broke a burger into pieces. Coaxed him over. "Dive in, pooch."

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Thumbs up on chapter three from 6 year old Ashley, but Renny is "too scary because he is mean to Sam."

There's apparently a recording of her comments that I can hear later.

Jilli the Bat makes an appearance in chapter 5, the goth bats of London.

“Not dead yet!”

Oh sweet jiminy Christmas-- chapter four of Between Here & Gone (AKA the sixties story) is finally done. It only took me since, oh, I dunno... MARCH. Talk about terror, that I'd never be able to finish this chapter and talk about frustration, that I knew what I wanted it to do and where I wanted to take it and simply couldn't seem to do it.

As silly as it might sound, I feel like I can actually breathe a little easier right now. Damn, but this story's a bitch.

The dive challenge is now closed.

The new challenge is blur.

“Not dead yet!”

Oh, rock ON. I just had a very productive writing morning. Plot point that came out of left field, but makes perfect, inevitable sense. At least, for right now.

Always Anti-fascist!

I don't think I've written anything really good since the computer virus. It sounds ridiculous, but I think it shook my confidence. Any suggestions?

“Not dead yet!”

Write a drabble where you have a character smite a virus?

I mean, just something ridiculous and silly and that you can take your frustrations out on?
