The Great Write Way, Act Three: Where's the gun?

A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Allyson, I hope the last three chapters go really fast for you, ripping out veins sounds uncomfortable in the extreme.

For those of you who thought I'd left my cookie jar drabbles behind, this follows on right after the very first one I wrote SailAweigh "The Great Write Way, Chapter Two: Twice upon a time..." Feb 3, 2008 8:03:41 am PST:

Hat Trick

"Got any spare change, buddy?"

The man glanced at her and then down at her tip jar. Face averted, he entered the McDonald's next to her. Another puffed up high-hatter, eating cheap before blowing half his paycheck in the bars lining State Street. Third one that night, who couldn't even spare a quarter. Her breath puffed out in disgust. She bent over to count the coins in the jar, when a bag was thrust toward her. Off balance, she clutched it to her chest, the smell of warm burgers and fries drifting to her nose.

She met his eyes. "Thanks."

“Not dead yet!”

BTW, Sail, meant to say I really loved how you turned that on its ear. It was lovely. And I could just smell the burgers and fries and damned if I didn't want some Mickey D's fries in that moment.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Barb, I'd wandered through your LJ at one point. I have a candidate for your cabana boys.

“Not dead yet!”

Ah, Sebastian. Not only has he been a cabana boy in the past, he was the avatar (in this guise)for Guiile in Adiós

Pretty, pretty Sebastian.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I spotted him not too long ago on Christina promoting something (I wasn't listening closely enough to tell what) that involved him wearing a loin cloth. (I got kinda distracted.)

“Not dead yet!”

Heh-- wonder why... The loincloth was probably for the play in which he winds up completely nekkid.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I just finished a revision pass on the first five chapters of the book. I'm starting to worry that I've lost my mind and am missing a whole bunch of things that need fixing. I just sent it off to my feedback angels, and am awaiting a flurry of "Um ... here's this list of stuff you need to work on" email.

Allyson, Sam made a visit to Delaware last week. He was hanging out (literally) under the roof outside of my place of work. I totally meant to take a picture, but I forgot. I could kick myself. Anyway, everyone who saw him thought he was adorable. The pizza guy down the way left some water out for him, which was beyond adorable.

Anyway, just thought you'd like to know. I assume he's on his way across the Atlantic by now.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I hate that email, Jilli. But the awesome part about readers is that by the time your editor gets it, s/he will be all, "wow, there's barely anything to change. this is great work."

Seriously, my Vampire People readers rocked it out, and both my agent and editor thought I was some super brilliant thing, but it had already gone through the hardcore spicy brains of Buffistas, so it was super clean.

Better to get those horrific emails from your betas, sit down, and get it one more painful push.
