I mean, let's say you did kill us. Or didn't. There could be torture. Whatever. But somehow you found the goods. What would your cut be?

Always Anti-fascist!

Well, not that I am successful, but I have found that I often don't get a good idea while actively on the hunt for it.

Because books.

What's working for me right now is being at work, weirdly. In a lot of ways it's like being in the shower, or driving, which are other places I can let my mind go because I'm physically focused on one thing and can't be distracted by someone walking in or remembering I need to put the wash in the dryer, etc.

When I'm taking calls, I'm butt in chair, no chance to walk away till my break, and I don't have any other distractions -- no cell phones allowed, no internet, no reading, etc. So if the phone's not ringing, I can jot notes, and I outlined four chapters of a children's book that way. I just sort of set my background brain on "project" and let stuff float in and out and it's been working really well.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's great, Amy!

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Though not the "no cell phones, no internet, no reading" thing. *shudder* I'm glad it's working for you, though!

Because books.

They staff pretty tightly -- they have software that anticipates call volume, etc. So most of the time, when you're answering calls, you're busy enough not to have more than a minute or two of down time. Otherwise it could be pretty unbearable. :-)

Because books.

Was just rereading the old threads and got very nostalgic for all the conversation that used to take place in here, and the drabbling.

I would love to start that up again, if people are interested. Tep, sj, erika, anyone?

I could do some drabbling. That would probably be good for me.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I do drabble. You too, you do drabble, too.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Would people be interested in/ok with poetry postings? I saw a keynote the other day by a graphic artist who felt uninspired and decided to create a skull a day for 365 days. He also decided that each one had to be different—made of different materials or with different techniques. He really got a lot out of it (including a book deal and a lot of new business). [link] Anyway, I was thinking that could be fun to do with writing, and I was considering doing a poem a day, with each one being a different poetry type. Not sure if there are 365 different poetic forms, but I ordered a book on them Friday, so I guess I'll find out.
