Typo, that piece is fantastic.
erika, love the drabble and the prompt. I thought I'd have something this week with it, but I've been so swamped with work that I haven't had the time.
A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.

Erika I love your drabble too.
And - I think I know what to do with this dream in terms of story. Never been able to write a novel. For some reason just can't sustain a story that long. But always been able to write short fiction. So: I think this could be a framing story that ties a bunch of short stories together. Arthur C. Clark did his "Tales from the White Hart". Only given that his is between universes it could tie all sorts of stories together - fantasy, hard SciFi, horror, noir, romance, I even think I know how the framing story comes out, and what the common thread between the short stories would be.
I also know why something terrible will happen if anyone tries to climb through a window or open a door to the shining city, and what (in general terms) is the terrible thing that will happen. And what the stakes in the game are.
I'm in the throes of self-editing a 30,000 word non-fiction piece. (Awkward length, but I know where I want to place it.) Once I finish that - this will move up - well maybe not to the top of the list, but immediately after something very short I have in queue.
I had some thoughts on erika's prompt but they never got past the percolation stage in my brain. Bah.
This week's prompt is flag.
Make of it what you will.
Aw, dang, was expecting nudity.:)
What, from me? ::bats eyelashes::
I really liked yours this week, erika. I have to get my act together about writing.
I thought somebody might.
Today was a poetry as therapy group thing and we read some poems the therapist seemed surprised I knew Christina Rossetti - I figured everyone knew about her! (we read A Green Cornfield btw)
and then we wrote a poem I've had this percolating in my head for awhile so it felt like cheating but I scrawled this out and shared it to the group. Who was mostly confused and I wanted to share it here. It's about ita. I know she changed her username but I always thought of it as !ita. I thought that was very fitting for her.
So here is the very rough draft. oh and !ita is read as "interbang ita" because that's how I would read it.
!ita
ita bang
ita moon
A force
gravity's pull
we are her satellites
ita bang
ita moon
!ita
a punch
a kick
sharp mind
cross swords - defend - prove your point
no strawmen here
ita moon
!ita
ita bang
electromagnetic field across the world
we find -each day- where she touched
who she touched
influence in surprising places
scope beyond realization
cornerstone
friend
touchstone
pink gingham
dragonfly
connisuer of fine men
Ting and curry
She was
she is
she will be
the internet is forever
our hearts are forever
b.org
odeck
krav
one generation -the next generation
grace & noah
matilda
emmett
other children touched in her gravity
pass down the stories
artist
baker
coder
fighter
!ita
ita bang
ita moon
Firefly legend
family
friend
fighter
She found peace
and we grapple with that still
So really really rough and probably people can point out mischaraterizations but it's something that's been in my head and I finally got a chance.
I didn't tell anyone the actual name of the website other than b.org I said I didn't want to reveal that. I didn't say the names when I read it out. Don't want anyone to feel I violated privacy.
God, I'm bawling like a baby at work, but it's after hours, so just about everyone is gone. If you would, it would be great if you posted that in the ita thread; not everyone checks Great White and that fucking deserves to be shared with the community. It's fierce and beautiful, just like ita. You rock, askye.
WHAT SAIL SAID. ::sniffle::
