I'm wordy. 100 is hard for me. 1K is easier. 500 is a good compromise.

I used to be killer at drabbles; these days I have trouble writing anything under 5k. I need practice at short.
I love the discipline of needing it to fit 100 words. Every story doesn't need to be told that way (or that short, obviously), but it helps me remember that every word counts and really think about which ones I want to use.
So if I am able to play, can I just confirm, drabbles are 100 words? And flash fic is 500 words? Hrm, I suspect 100 words will be a challenge for reasons Bev described. But I'd love a chance to write again. It's been hard.
I don't count words. If it seems a little long I'll tighten it up, but on the whole I don't worry about it.
I create a large block of words and then chip away the ones that aren't part of the story. It takes me much longer to write short.
I totally count words like a mofo. Are mofos particular about wordcounts? I dunno.
But we could be kinda loose in our definitions here. Like, I could totally do song lyrics instead! That could be fun,
Anyone can write whatever length they want! I just like the exercise of whittling down to 100 words.
What Amy said. I like the challenge of making it fit exactly. Paring out that last word is like finding the last Cadbury Cream Egg in the Easter basket.
So...I'm pretty sure I'm the newest book reviewer for Fantasy-Facction.
I sent my app in in March, forgot about it, and got an invite when I was moving and my internet was wonky.
Of course, now that I got the email, I have about 4 working projects to...um...work on, now that I can get my internet to work properly, and have to move again in 7 days.
