I just think it's rather odd that a nation that prides itself on its virility should feel compelled to strap on forty pounds of protective gear just in order to play rugby.

Because books.

Any of us women over 40 have a screenplay ready to submit? [link]

"already on the kiss-cam with Karl Marx"-

Not yet. As disappointing as it was to get a rejection in my inbox this morning, I guess it's fair enough. I felt like I sent them flash fiction that they asked for, but looking at it after a few months, it seems that I sent them an *idea* instead. Sigh.

I still like the idea, but maybe fleshing out two women's motivations in under 1,000 words is truly a tall order or at least, I haven't mastered it.

Coding and Sleeping

Short fiction is tough. At least it is for me.

I wish I could work on some writing, but it just isn't in the cards right now.

I like short fiction, but that's because I'm lazy and put off writing anything substantial.

I miss the prompts and drabbles we used to do here.

Because books.

We tried them again and no one came.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I know. I miss having prompts. Maybe if we called it flash fic, instead, with a 500 word limit? Or, post a bunch of prompts all at once and peck away at them over a month or so? It was a lot of fun when we had a lot of people doing it on a weekly basis, but I think a lot of those folks have either dropped off the board or quit writing.

brillig

I'm still here, still writing (praise be), but I do think a lot of the audience/participants are elsewhere.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I just don't have the time or energy for drabbling. Wish I did, that was fun.

Or some combination where some prompts are reserved for drabble and others for flash fic.

I would participate. Selfishly. Writing in front of this talented group of writers forces me to be better.
