About a chapter(or two) from finishing the second draft of novel. It's good in places, not terrible overall--I mean, after about two years I wish I were totally in love with it, but it's long and it actually has a beginning, middle, and end, which were stumbling blocks in the past.

That's great!
Go erika! Finishing the second draft and not hating it thoroughly sounds pretty awesome to me.
There are bits that I might hate later, but mostly not. It's just that, for the time I spent, I wish it were spectacular(but it might get there, still, right?) Yeah, I'm pleased.
Finishing the second draft is huge, erika!
It is huge, erika! And you may feel differently about it after you let it rest for a while. Work on something else for a bit or read something of a completely different genre, and give your brain a break.
I was out to dinner with fellow local writers tonight, and I can't even say how good it was for me. Whenever I'm with other writers, it always recharges me. I need to do it more.
To sum up: Writers groups for everyone! They're a good thing!
Go Erika! That is huge. And Amy is wise.
Yeah, hate was a bit strong, but you know what it's like when you only see the flaws or that you don't have a nifty case file to draw from like Michael Connelly. To use a completely fictional example that my friend told me about. Besides you people, haven't had a good group since college, though I tried a few times. Mine had too many old guys who hadn't read anything new since the Godfather came out.
meep. I have a very fast deadline for the first round of edits on this book. I shouldn't even be here. Meep.
