"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Congratulations, Sox!

I've been playing around with a story in my head for a while now, and some of it has actually been coming together over the last few weeks. I have most of the characters fleshed out and some of the plot wprked out in my head. TCG just spent some time doing some research for me on locations, gas mileage, the cost of gas, etc. It probably would have taken me all day to find out the information he figured out in an hour.

Because books.

That's nice, sj! I never look up that stuff until I have to, because I'm lazy.

It was essential information that I needed to start the story, which I did today! Not just notes and ideas, which I have been jotting down for a while but actual writing. Which I'm sure is complete crap, but it's still words on the page.

Because books.

Words on the page is all you need right. Just keep writing!

I actually started a new project today, too. I have one whole paragraph, but I feel like I know where I'm going. It's a plain old adult novel, though, which is a little frightening.

Coding and Sleeping

I'm a guest blogger on my agent's blog today:

Also, it got picked up by 'Submit That Story Already'. That sounds cool, but admittedly I've never heard of that site before.

Always Anti-fascist!

It looks like my police detective wants his own story. I have read other writers talking about characters hijacking stories, but this is a first for me... maybe it's all the procedure I've been reading lately.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Image from a dream last night, which I share in case anyone wants to use it:

The king sits on his high throne feasting on anchovy-apple, and upon cottage cheese with ketchup. Below wolves howl for his blood; only his throne's height keep him safe. A great mass of rats cover the cushions next to him, sharing his feast. He knows he can trust them for the moment. He also knows that when he falls (when, not if) the rats will devour anything the wolves leave behind. He is a powerful king, obeyed with alacrity, but not envied. He is known as "The Trembling King".

In this realm, the ruler is chosen by lot. Anyone who wishes may preempt the lottery and volunteer for the position, but nobody ever does.

Agent offered and I accepted. I can't say more just yet, but I am very excited.
