That's awesome! Thanks for linking that, Tom.
The Great Write Way, Act Three: Where's the gun?
A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.
Second partial request.
That's great. Getting a couple of partial requests right out of the gate is a good sign. Did they come from queries that included pages?
One yes, one no. Signs the query letter is ok?
I would think so. My first two partials were the same deal, one with pages and one without. Good sign that the writing is strong enough, too. Not that I'd think that would be a problem with you having read some stories.
So, a couple of weeks ago in Natter tommyrot mentioned his mom Enid and the fact that her name will probably never become popular again, and I posited a vaguely steampunkish kidlit scenario in which it might, and some folks said they'd read that if I wrote it, so... I've started. The first 900 of what is so far around 4500 words are posted here (no Enid in the posted bit, but she turns up in the very next section).
Too long to be a drabble at this point, but holy shit am I scared to death that I'll peter out and stop. Pretty sure I have enough story idea to crank out another 10K words right now, and presumably those 10K will contain more things that need to be followed through on. I hope. I'm really pretty terrified. I haven't finished anything in probably twenty years. I don't know if I know how to.
Someone, please, nag me about this. I want to get my words out and not sabotage this possible... thing, I don't even know what.
Awesome, JZ!
You know I'll be nagging, lady.
I'm in, too, although be careful what you wish for...my dad called me "deathgrip" once.
Oh, foo, I'm not on LJ so it won't let me see! :(
