oh thanks! Steven's answers are great.
A heads up - I have a roundtable coming out in Strange Horizons in a couple weeks with four writers - Elizabeth Bear, Scott Lynch, Nalo Hopkinson, and Gregory Frost - that's all about food and fiction. Just in time for Thanksgiving. Bring your antacids.
Oh, fab! Good on you, Sox!
Here it is... might post in Press: [link]
If anyone is available to do a beta in the next day or two, let me know. I pitched an essay to Salon yesterday and I want to send in my very best work.
Would anyone like to look at the draft for the American Kennel Club fiction contest?
(Obviously not if you're afraid of dogs...)
I don't need this beta till mid- January, but I thought I'd ask now.
Thanks!
I'd love to read it. (I hadn't realized that the AKC has a fiction contest.)
Me either...apparently they have a magazine and everything.(I started looking at more writing stuff with the budget cuts and all that...does that mean Paul Ryan's right?
Nah, that's crazy talk.
Insent, Sumi.
The AKC Gazette recently went all digital. It is essentially - a club newsletter with additional articles but used to be a fancy glossy thing. Required to carry delegate and board meeting minutes and announcements but with lots of additional stuff.
Oh, but I bet that the fiction contest is for "Family Dog" - which is a broader publication more for pet-owners than breeders.
Woof.
Apparently, they also have a fiction contest every year.
No fees, but they still want an old-school paper copy sent through the mail so I need to leave time to make corrections.
