I'm getting pounded with work which is keeping me from making much progress writing or beta reading currently. OTOH I think I've thought of the first sentence for Cog and the Copper Dragon (I've got the first two chapters written save for the opening since I realized I needed a little scene there). "The banshee wail ripped through Cog's slumber like a hot locomotive through butter."
Being a rough draft, there is little likelihood it will remain the first sentence, but maybe I can get that rough first chapter put away now.

Hi all. I've got a preview of my witch short story, "Baby Detonate For Me," online right now for a limited time. I think folks around here might enjoy it.
Happy Halloween!
That was a great short, Victor. I liked it a lot!
The site said it was a draft; holler at me if you need a beta or copy editor; I REALLY liked Whitney and this story.
Thanks for posting that, Victor. Great read.
Thanks, Strix and -t! And Strix, I'm actually rather happy with it as is, but at its current length, it's unsellable, so I'm probably going to blow it up to a full length novel. Not abandoning it , though, no matter what: the reaction's been great, and I love writing Whitney. She's a total blast.
I would LOVE to read more about Whitney; I endorse your novel plan!
It's next on my agenda, as soon as I finish up the long thing I'm working on!
Yeah, I would read the hell out of that. I love Whitney's witchy process and between her family and the ghosts and just more of her narrating her thought processes you are not gonna run out of material soon.
I love how she's surrounded by people (her mom, Philomena, Steph) who keep her general bad-assery from going to her head. Will be looking at expanding Abigail, Harriet, Steph and Philomena's stories, and maybe a bit of Sara's. (Which, alas, might mean having to switch narrators, or switch to omniscient for non-Whitney sections.)
